It sounds more like Boston's "More than a feeling", and he admitted it was a cliche riff which sounded like Louie Louie. Check out the musical progression and you'll see, its not Louie Louie. It might have been written 'tongue in cheek' (he might have been poking fun at Boston's mainstream appeal), but I doubt he stressed about it. Since I didnt know him, I cant speculate about why he checked out. Did you know him, or are you just spewing web gossip?

It's not web gossip, they stated that in an interview. The song was made for laughs by imitating Louie Louie, with the assurance that it would make them more popular.

Obviously Curt had no idea how popular they would get.

I have this urge to listen to Bleach.

Odd, I read in another interview that it was intentionally a ripoff of the Pixies. But, they were notorious for fu*king with people in interviews.

But that is the history of Rock N Roll.
Even the term Rock N Roll was stolen.

Every word or combination of words in the English language has been used by someone else.
And all the common themes that run through music of all genre' are "rehashed"

Every note, every chord.

Be a lot easier to just enjoy the music ... would it not ??
Why bother even trying to copywrite and sell anything? I've got a lyric in one of my songs from the board game Monopoly. I'll bet that someday Parker Brothers (or whoever owns Monopoly these days) will probably sue me. Maybe if I get enough PR from the lawsuit it'll be worth it in the end. Stealing one phrase from something should be thrown out of court. It had nothing to do with the success of the song. $45,000 dollars +, INSANE.
