I forgot that Bandmix charges for communication... good point Sentient Paradox.... Of course that doesn't account for the multitude not responding on Craigs List. Even a simple "Not Interested" would be nice--you know what I mean?

Thanks to everyone who responded to this post, I've got 14 so far...and that seems to be a windfall.

On most venues, real musicians are real people.

If they have any courtesy at all, they respond even if to say "no".

If they won't tell you no, take it as a sign that they didn't want to play with you and probably weren't worth your time to begin with.

If you need be hung up on something, let it be your music otherwise you are just pissing up a rope.
