I listened to your songs you posted.
The recording is great.
The songs come off very repetitive to me, and I just dont feel anything jumping out at me. I always want to hear some fire or passion in music and although the songs are tight, well recorded and arranging they just come across as elevator music. What I mean is just background noise.
As a guitarist, I would love to get a hold of the rythyms and spice the tracks up. There is a lot of space to add something as far as guitars. Not being much of a vocalist myself I cant comment on them, but I do like the layered vocals with the harmonys, they sound good and thick.
Good Luck with your band, if I come across as negative it wasnt meant to be, just my opinion. I just love to hear some real passion in someones music and im not hearing it in yours.
Oh yeah welcome on board, just a warning dont post to many threads about politics and religion and you will do fine here.

Thanks for the feedback man - always good to hear. Even though I'm a Christian in a Christian rock band you might be surprised to know I stay away from pushing any views on politics and religion.... everyone has a right to believe what they want and I think people get along better when they meet on common ground. If someone wanted to know what I believe in and why they'd ask, otherwise not my place to push it on them... good advise there and I'm all for it.

Ive been involved with a couple of Christian Rock projects, I think I put one of my songs on my player The Day That Jesus Died, unfortunately the band didnt want to use the song, thats just a demo I did to show them the song.
Like I said I hope you guys do well, the thing seems to be to just keep on doin it. Im an old hack and have been part of my main cover band for 22 years now, so just keep pushin it.

HECK YEA !! as our B/U vocalist is prone to say. LOL
We (especially me) are more " in your face " with our style. Yet I like the sound of what your doing.
Despite your being much closer to the "Pop" Christian rock sound than we ... we (our bands) could put on one hell of a show.
Thought here: Though I am listening on cheap speakers, I would bring the kick / toms & the bass more out front.
Good job.
God bless.
And thanks for the music.

Yeah man that'd be fun sans. We have a few more in your face heavier bass / drums / electric songs, these are more our mid-tempo kind of radio friendly ones. We have basically on our album a mix of like 3-4 blatantly softer songs, 3-4 mid tempo like you heard, and a few heavier tunes by some definition (but in reality probably not really too heavy - think Seether, etc.)
Thanks for the feedback both of you guys!

Okay, I'm listening to your stuff.
"For You" - I like the vocals, but they could use a touch of effect in the context of the rest of the instruments. It's okay, but there is a certain bit of power lacking, imho. I like the dynamics, esp at the change to the acoustic. Overall, though, this sounds like any number of bands in your genre. I think it may be about a whole minute too long, cuzza the lack of more changes, though. B/u vox could come up in the mix a bit.
"You Are Lord" - This is a bit ponderous, & could use some excitement. There isn't a strong enough melody to keep my interest at this tempo. Once again, the b/u vox are almost buried in the mix. They're one of your strongest points & need to come up just a bit. I see a style in your song-writing through these two, that needs some punch to grab me better, imho. You seem to take a simple chording theme & leave it at that. I'd like to hear a very strong veriance from the main theme in a bridge. Something to surprize me. A great guitar or keyboard lead. A simple repetitive riff that I can latch on to. A strong hook of some sort. Something to expand upon that theme. I wonder what would happen if you sped this one up about 4 or 5 clicks. That in itself might do it for me.
But that's just me, I'm sure. Your music is very good, for what it is. Kudos for your efforts.
Good luck, & keep at it.

Cheesy. VERY cheesy, imho.
Ask for a critique of your work, & I'll give it, if it's offered within your profile.
Ask me to jump through a buncha o/l hoops so you can get a gig, without even offering up any music so I can see if you're worthy of my vote, & I won't give you help. You made no mention of your music, other than the fact that it's a christian rock band, like that would automatically make you worthy of my vote.
At this point I don't even care to look at your profile to see if you posted any music there.

Okay, so I looked at your profile, & all I can say is to my forum-mates.
Fellow Bandmixers, this guy doesn't have any music on his profile. He hasn't done anything for anyone in here. He hasn't made any contribution to any conversation. All he's done is join up, advertise that his is a christian band, & beg for our efforts to place him in a good gig. Does this sound like someone we should be backing?
I think not.
Take your begging elsewhere.

Phil - great feedback man. I appreciate the insight. We're already writing for our second album and it is shaping up to more like what you describe. I came into the band after they had pretty much written up the first album so my creativity as the guitarist was a little hindered, but this next album I'm pushing for a stylistic change in our song writing - guitar riffs need their own writing not just chord progressions behind vocals. You are also correct that we have a great backup vocalist who I have felt needs brought up a little bit, as having good b.u.v. are a great addition. Thanks for the insights, compliments, and suggestions. Much appreciated.

Yes he did.
In the garden of Gethsemane.
He prayed for hours begging his Father to spare him his fate. To the point of sweating blood he prayed.
Jesus was human. He knew fear and pain.
He even begged his disciples to keep watch in the night with him.
In the end he bowed to his Fathers will.
Thy will be done.
On the cross he begged forgiveness for all mankind.

But at least attempt to be accurate with your slings and arrows.

...well, there's also the fact that he was somewhat of a "hobo preacher," living off the generousity of others, which is kinda odd, considering the vast wealth he had at birth, & his royal birthright...I wonder what happend to that? I've found no mention of it anywhere, or even heard of anyone else asking the question.
He was given precious gifts at birth. Were they used for his schooling by the Pharisees? Given to the poor? Used up for day-to-day living? His family could have lived quite well off those gifts, in his time.

That's actually a fascinating question - I wonder what happened to his gifts he received at birth. I guess - just pure speculation - that they were probably kept. When I receive something as a gift I'm unlikely to turn around and sell it. That said I also kind of doubt his family itself was very wealthy... his father was a carpenter. Yes he was a descendant of David but even in today's world you see rich people who have nephews etc. they haven't shared a penny with. Just a thought.

It's doubtful that Joseph was a "carpenter," as we think of it. Too little wood around the area, as far as I can tell. Maybe it was different 2.000 yrs ago...
The word "carpenter," as I understand it, was used in the place of "mechanic" or "master." What trade either Jesus or Joseph were a master of, is up for debate. I guess Jesus was a "master preacher?"
It was a title of respect for one who has become a master of his trade, but probably mistranslated.
