Sans all that I am saying string tension has to be factored in. The only way to adjust that is with string length[the bridge].
When you press the string to the 12th fret it should be very close to the open string ,that proves that bridge setting is correct, and that you have properly split the distance in half, and have figured in the addition of string tension at higher positional playing.
As far as the begining post about buzzing strings,,,,,,,You have to be real carefull with acoustic guitars. Most of the time strings are much heavier and if the guitar was not crafted and checked carefully enough you wind up with a guitar that has all these little problems. I have given away a few less expensive acoustic guitars because they bugged me.
I hate to say it but if you want a really good acoustic with out the nuance, you may have to spend some bucks. Factory guitars will never replace a master Luthier. A $700 acoustic is never going to match a handcrafted $7000 guitar.
Be nice if we all could afford one of those.
