Hi Umbra. How you doing mate?
You know having thought some about this......

I'm a drummer. It's historical even (@%@(&*A) to know that anyone with a set of skins wants to play them live. That's where they as an instrument live so I retract that. Difficult for a drummer it is when there are hardly any places to let of steam and practice.

Whole nother kettle of worms............ Innit.
Keep well Umbra, best.

@ Slacker. LOL :D (Bedroom). Most are like that really. Just a comp and a few wires and off you go, no worries on that either.

For me, playing out would be like a "gallery showing". A means to sharing my work with others. I do that on the web as well.

I wouldn't play a live show just to play out ... the live environment usually sucks (selling beer for a bar/club). Unless you are playing in a clean hospitable venue, like a theatre or large club ... dives and corner bars are no fun for me at all.

For me its about the writing/recording process ... occasional selected live shows are cool too. 8)

Don't you miss the spontaneity of playing live? Feeding off other musicians vibes in a improvisational setting? Connecting with an audience?

Lack of time. 9-7, plus a 1 hour commute home every weekday. No time for band-practice even if I thought I had the confidence to play live. Studio is just easier because it's just me and I can set my hours.

Sometimes ... but I don't miss the smoke, the drunks, the travel, the load-in/load-out, crap PA, marginal audio engineers, and the lousy food ... and since I don't drink, I can't even take advantage of the free drinks.

Hey Chippy ... BTW where are you moving? Local, or across the pond?

If you're going far away, let's be sure to get together before you do.
