Btw, Klugmo, I AM a blue-collar guy. About as blue collar as they come. Look at my other posts about my day gig, & you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. I don't look down on the working man, cuz I can't afford to. But I will always look down on those ppl who celebrate being rude, or who think that having good manners, especially on stage, is not for "real men."

And before you think I'm some sort of country music hater, I'll add that the band I've been working in for over 10 years plays a LOT of classic country by Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline, & even some bluegrass. I've worked in a bluegrass band for over 2 years, too. I love good music, & there's truly plenty of that in the country genre, even though a lot of the more modern stuff should be called southern rock or blues.

It's certainly okay for you to disagree with my views, too. That's what makes us all unique. In your eyes I guess I look like some sort of BS elitist or something, but I just think it's a huge shame that country folk have lost that charm & those manners that they used to be so proud of in the past, & yeah, that covers a lot of the musicians AND much of thier audience. Again, that's just my opinion, & we all know what that's worth, eh?

LOL

My four dogs sleep on a queen size mattress on my porch.
I hunt, I fish, hell I even drive a Jeep while wearing boots.
I live I Texas.
And I freakin ROCK !!

Many of my acquaintances listen to "country music". But I think more for the atmosphere than the music.
I feel no power in most country music. But it's a personal thing.

LOL

We all like to take shots at each other intended audience.
But for sure not only at some of our gigs, but for a lot of metal fans I think the genes were from the shallow end of the pool. :D

Listen phil, I really think you are being short sighted. I believe the problem you describe is true in all popular music. You shouldn't focus your coments on just Country like they are the only ones doing negative things with their music.

Sorry brother!

I don't think their opinions are as "enlightened" as they think they are.

But to each his own.

Ah, but I don't just focus on country, Klugmo. I hate everything, just ask anyone. The title of this thread set the topic on country, & I went with it.

I DO see more of this sorta thing here, though, for some reason, but heavy metal has a buncha butt-jobs doing thier thing, too. Pop is fulla oddness these days, but at least there's some manners shown, unless you're talking about a nut case like Kanye West, who I think should never be given a mic again, cua he has no respect for anything or anyone & he can't sing anyway without the auto-tune, so why bother with him?

Country is the only genre that dumps in superfluous patriotism, though, & I think it's just too silly to put up with.

I have always hated sloganizing, & lots of low-brow rock does that, & when it does, I bitch about it.

I'm really not down on country any more than I am on anything else that I find to be stupid. Really. I'm not. Get to know me a lil better & you'll see that.

That's like talking to a Redhead and telling her:

"Don't be offended that I think YOU are UGLY! I think ALL redheads are UGLY!"

Think that makes her feel any better?

btw...

Did you ever send me your phone number?

Bad choice of wording there, for sure, Craig.

I meant something entirely different, of course. I wanted to say that there are aspects & acts that I find to be stupid in country for such & such reasons, but there is still lots of good stuff in there, & no, I'm not a "country-hater."

I really shouldn't rush & typerate while I'm watching this lil guy, should I?

I'll send it to you tonight, Craig. Gotta go finish dinner, now.

LMAO!

Yeah, watching the baby and typing on Bandmix simultaneously, could end up like this...

"Hey Craig... That new song of yours is different, and makes me think... DID YOU WET YOUR PANTS AGAIN???!!!! Cause it's nice the way from the very beginning, you click the mouse, press play and you feel like... PUT THAT DAMN THING DOWN!!! - How long have you been writing again? Cause I was thinking... HEY, I'LL CHANGE YOUR DIAPERS IN A MINUTE, OK???!!!! But thanks for sharing the song... carry on!

'Twas spicy chicken & rice & fried okra last night. Fairly yummy.

Jace loves his rice. I think he was chinese in another lifetime. Pretty much anything with rice or noodles will get him to really dig in & get excited about his dinner, sometimes to the point that he just hasta wear his bowl like a hat!

Klugmo - I'm scot/native amer/brit...maybe that's why I feel so at odds with myself all the time...

Slacker G - you're definitely right about one thing, & that's that country has gotten as superficial as pop & r & b. Too many of the artists are there only for the "pretty appeal," & they have stock writers that go the distance to provide hit after hit for them, all based on the same timeworn formula, complete with seamless superfluous references to patriotism &/or "simpler times" just to tweak someone's emotion, but without having any real emotional depth. I know that Klugmo thinks this is an unfair comment, but I truly do see it often (& I was happy that I didn't see it in his songs).
