Koran is the older transliteration of the word.

Quran or Qur'an is a more modern transliteration.

Either is acceptable.

Even news agencies don't agree on which is correct or preferable.

Because honestly Craig - I haven't read the Koran. So I don't feel like I have any authority to comment on what it says or doesn't say.

And I'm certainly not going to take your word for anything; sorry, but you've burned any credibility you had with me. When I read your posts I sense fear and hate, and so I just take whatever you say with a grain of salt.


I think the difference here is that I draw a line between the religion itself and the people who practice it.

If you're trying to convince me that Islam is a bad thing - you don't need to. I am a equal opportunity religion hater Craig; I think every religion is absurd, flawed and bad for humanity. I think religion - in every form - is the single biggest contributor to the problems of our world.

If you're going to try and convince me Islam a bad religion because it promotes hate/oppression/violence I'm just going to laugh - because all religions do that. You may not think so - but as an outsider looking in, that's the way all religions look to me. It's just a different kind of hate/oppression. Every religion has the same agenda - CONTROL. Christian Scientists won't take their children to a doctor even though modern medicine can cure them - that's control and that, to me, is just as bad as the bad things that Islam promotes.

Mormons don't want me to drink caffeine and they brain-wash their kids from birth so badly that as adults they can't have a healthy sexual relationship with their spouses - tell me that's not evil? I think that's one of the worst things that you can do to a person - f*ck them up so bad they can't even have a normal, healthy relationship with their spouse, because sex is such a taboo topic in that religious circle.

You want to point the finger at Islam and say "bad"!

But pardon me if I get bored, because I already think all religions are evil.

While agree with you on the effects of religion, I don't think anything in this world can be evil except for human beings. The people who distort the religion's original intent must be blamed, not the religion itself. It's similar to a fundamentalist saying that the theory of evolution is evil.
