Omg, I uploaded a Blues piece. I have lost my mind. Lol. You guys have to download it from the Audio/Video section on my profile, sorry about that. But this thing will not take it properly as a .wma file, stupid. Anyhow, it will open into Windows Media Player.

Well, the solo you hear, yes that horrible one, is improvised off the top of my head, but I must have lost track of the music at one point because it does not correlate, Lol.

Anyhow, I think I should just stick to playing rhythm, that is the only thing that sounds decent here, Lol.

Opinions and criticism welcomed!

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

Oh my... I think .. I think I hear a Morello bit in the middle
Well, lemme say this: I'm not a fan of the loud rhythm playing, but I'm a BIG fan of the lead.

Here's something I would suggest working on:

** Get Audacity. It's free and the easiest to use;

http://www.audacity.sourceforge.net/

**Record each guitar on a separate track. Rhythm on the first, Lead on another, and so on.

**"De-amplify" the rhythm. It's really too loud. Less is more.

**Rock on, man. You got soul :D

EDIT: Fixing the link (hopefully) and agreeing with Howlin'.

Good to hear you're still alive and strummin'. :D

Haha, yeah, I know what you mean, Andragon, I have been working on a new song, all the parts are separated and I am using Audacity to edit them. The new song is really intense, so it is going to take some time to get together. Also, I will throw some Tom Morello up for you later, I know some of his stuff.

Uncle Howlin! Yes, I am still alive! Lol. No, I did not fall in the water fishing. I just have not felt up to doing much lately, bit lazy. Uh, I am also mourning a loss in the family, rough time. So yeah, it's just what it is.

But the blues stuff is new to me, Lol. I have been working on more complex song structures and timings lately, memorizing scales, music theory, and just having some fun with writing.

I will record some stuff now and post more.

Peace guys, hope all is well, and it is nice to see all of you again, GuitarAnatomy.

Yeah,

At :19 you're going into another scale. LOL

But I commend you for working on both lead and rhythm. DON'T QUIT!!! I wish someone had showed me some lead when I was coming up, and I never played with it on my own, cause I was too busy making up my own chords and rhythms and writing originals. Some lead would have come in handy, and now I am trying to catch up a little. Wish I had done it years ago though.

You are on the right track!

The more you learn now, the larger tool box you will have to draw from later!

Lmao. Haha. Another scale, ha. Whoops.

Yeah, I would be a fine rhythm player in a band at this point, Lol. But I want to be lead, so it is going to take quite a long time before I get it together and I am ready to make that band.

I just can't wait till I get my newer material down. I do not want to post covers really, I want my own stuff up there. So I better get working on it.

Peace and thanks for the words of enouragement.

Sign, GuitarAnatomy.

Sorry to hear bout the loss, GA. May they rest in peace.
And I'd be really impressed if you pull off a Morello bit 8)

Craig, I SO agree bout the whole making up my own chords and strumming patterns. I bought my first acoustic 6 months ago. I actually sat down and tried to learn how to play bout 2 months ago. When I put my mind to it, I can play VERY VERY simple songs.. with a few mistakes. Then I give up and improvise. I come up with the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I traveled on the road with my mom's band from ages 12 to 18 and my step dad's brother played some rhythm and showed me basic chords, which is how I started. But he was only around a short time, and I had no one else to show me anything for many years. So I just made up my own stuff and figured things out as I went along or made them up.

It's worked out ok I guess, cause some very good guitarists have told me I am a good rhythm player, and have come up after a show, to compliment me on the very rhythmical and syncopated strumming I use on some of my songs.

It's probably helped me to be more original as a result.

So I wouldn't change that.

Thanks.

Okay, I uploaded the Morello bit, it is "Show Me How To Live", it is the intro/verse piece merged with the chorus, Lol. It also has to be downloaded, it is in WMA format, I would do MP3 but my computer is not so nice lately. Note, you will hear a crackle at the beginning, it is not your speakers, it is the song.

Peace out, hope you enjoy, GuitarAnatomy.

Craig: Yea. I didn't get anyone to teach me. I started out with zero knowledge bout guitars. Zero. I'm still learning. Thanks for the comforting haha
"Repeat after me: I am normal.. I am normal.. I am normal."

Yea, GA, I knew it was the amp. You plugged it in after you started recording so it made that sound :P That's a whole lotta gain.. I think 8)
Cool stuff, man. I'll be looking forward to more. Maybe some of Morello's "monkey laugh" solos

I'll try to listen to this later, about time to go to work so it'll have to wait.

Get the LAME encoder, (google is your buddy) and when you finish a song in Audacity, go to the FILE menu and look for EXPORT. Export it as mp3, and the first time it will ask you where the LAME encoder is. Once you tell Audacity where you put it, you can export everything to mp3 format easy.

Took me an hour to understand what Audacity was looking for.. that was months ago when I first got it. Stupid files.

GA I'm glad to see you working on some blues. Almost every contemporary genre of music comes from blues. There's also nothing wrong with joining a band NOW as a rhythm player. I've played with a bunch of lead players who weren't much on rhythm. Everybody wants to be a lead guitar hero and most ignore the rhythm. Unless you end up in a power trio you're going to have to play some rhythm in most bands. If you end up playing NOW with a hot lead player it might help you become a better lead player and when you're ready you can break away and form your own band. In my opinion playing in a gigging band is one of the quickest ways to learn an instrument. Anyway good luck. I'll let you know if I visit Boynton Beach anytime in the future. Later...

Lol, FishermanBob. Yeah, rhythm is always good too. I have a new song uploaded now, it is not blues though.

This song is called "Lost," just a working title and all. But it starts out a bit disjointed, sorry about that, but it sounds fine as it goes more into it. I wrote this many months back. It is in a perfect clean pitch there, and you will hear at the end a chorus like part, that I think I will have distorted, Lol. I tried playing and recording it with some distortion, but it came out odd. I will try again later.

Well, criticism welcomed.

By the way, Andragon, I am not using a physical amplifier to record this stuff, I am using a computer amplifier in Guitar Rig to record it, Lol. So the crackle actually came from my guitars input line.

PaleoPete, thank you so much for the recommendation for LAME Encoder, I downloaded it and it works.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

Why does Lost's intro remind me of Rooster by AIC? :O
Good to know, man. I like the idea of the tune. Solid start.
