The FUND IN THE SUN Music Festival will be a charitable music festival for the Operation Homefront charity. This troop charity provides support services for the troops and their families nationwide. Sponsors will be providing most of the needed items, and all proceeds from ticket sales and vendor contracts will be donated directly to Operation Homefront. Radio sponsorship is in place and all bands that want to be a part of the show must contact @Ace Entertainment ASAP, stage time is limited and is filling quickly. A complete list of performers will be advertised in the tri-state radio networks and in print. CD sales and promotions are permitted to all who are booked to perform. The venue, Coonskin Ampitheatre, accomodates 10,000 in general admission seating. Each booked performer will be given a space to set up a sales table but no compensation is gauranteed to any performer for stage performance. Book Now if interested.

Just to clarify, people who want stage time will be required to provide a music sample and will be notified of their stage time by mail once the final bookings are done. Because of considerable interest, there will be limited space. We will be representing all genre's of music and have to book accordingly. Contact us for more information.

Wow.

You went from a "peace rally" to "supporting the troops" awfully quickly. If you are seriously trying to throw an event together it sounds pretty disorganized.

1) What is the date of this event?

2) Who is the organizer?

3) Which radio station is on board?

4) Is Operation Homefront aware of this event? Who is the contact?

There is NOTHING on this event to be found online, which seems suspicious.

Nothing on the Schoenbaum Stadium - Coonskin Park site.

Nothing on Operation Homefront's site.

Nothing anywhere.

Answer the questions above so I can call the various organizations and verify the information.

The revised focus of the event is now a laudable cause for a worthy and highly regarded charity. If I see that this is legitimate, I will be happy to support it. We have over 7000 people signed up on our MySpace and they repost our bulletins when asked, and we have a LARGE number of people and groups signed up that support efforts for troops, some of them may be able to offer assistance or support.

Michael,

You're going in the right direction. Thank you for your previous personal correspondence with me, answering a few of the questions I posed. When you have a set date, and have actually booked the venue for that date, please post that information and I will send out some bulletins and see if some of the veterans and troop organizations signed up with us can help support it in some way.

I apologize for dismissing your entire business publicly, but I also feel that posting an apology here is in order from you as well, for being rude and trying to be threatening to a community, within your second post to it.

Fair?

I really didn't know what i did wrong in my post. I've worked with musician's in LA, NY, and FL before settling down in WV and starting a quiet DJ company that has exploded into this. when I made the joke about psychotropic drugs, i wasn't trying to be offensive, and I am sorry if I came across that way, I happened to be high at the time. Anyway, 99% of the musician's I've ever worked with were on at least marijuana (don't judge it til you try it), and we often joked with each other saying things like that when one of us, while on it, said something that made no sense, like "Unless you consider the lack of war due to being a slave "peace"." I still don't get it, even when high. I never meant to start a war speaking of a peace rally, but all I meant was a gathering of many types of musicians peacefully, it really always was about the troops, the first three charities considered were all troop charities. Anyway, sorry if i offended anyone.

Volunteers for event staff and security are also needed. We are also seeking business sponsorships to help with the costs because it is our plan to donate 100% of the ticket revenue plus a mandatory percentage of the vendor income to the charity. @Ace Records is taking no money for the organizing of the event. Sound systems will be in place for all the acts to just plug and play. There are sanitation costs as well. If you own a business and can help in any amount, you will be given credit for that donation in all of our advertising which will begin immediately following the booking of the local bands. The more we raise in sponsorship money, the more we have to work with for the headlining act. The headliner will be a well known artist, so all involved can add "opened for" whoever we finalize with to their resume.

You said...

"Not sure how many psychotropic drugs you were on.... (snip)
....your life must be pretty miserable."

Aside from the rudeness, you tried to threaten people's careers, which as the owner of a DJ business, is quite outside the realm of your possibilities, but apart from that, it is simply rude and unprofessional to suggest such things, especially as a newbie to a forum, which is a community. You don't think that trying to scare people into believing you can stop their careers is worthy of an apology? You deserved most of the comments I made, and yet I still apologized for what was appropriate.

@Ace Entertainment wrote: "Unless you consider the lack of war due to being a slave "peace"." I still don't get it, even when high.

It makes perfect sense.

When countries are controlled through whatever means, whether slavery or even dictatorships, communism, etc... then there is a relative "peace" within those countries. But at what price?

If we were all obedient slaves, then perhaps the world would see "peace", meaning a world without wars, because the citizens of the world, were in effect, slaves. Kept controlled.

For example...There would not have been a first and second Chechen War, had the former Soviet Union stayed intact. Once the dissolution was imminent however, then Chechnya declared it's independence. All the former republics of the Soviet Union were in De facto slavery. So they did not war amongst themselves. They were not allowed to. They would have been crushed and a heavy penalty extracted for trying to do so.

Hence, the closest thing you will see to peace, is a world of slavery, where people's are prevented from organizing and ruthless leaders prevented from allowing their greed to run amok, by seeking to take over other countries for gain, or even the world for that matter.

Historically, I would have to agree with Sans on this. But biblically, I cannot. In fact, my reading of Revelations in the New Testament, tells me that one of the main works of believers, is to be a tool for "The healing of the Nations", which I read as helping find solutions to historical resentments, through appealing to love and understanding. In addition, it may even be that we are to be physicians of a sort, following the aftermath of an unprecedented global conflict, the like of which has yet to be seen.

Well thank you, that makes sense. As for the apology, i will leave it as it stands, I am sorry I was misunderstood, pot-made humor doesn't always translate well in print, but I was immediately called a moron, so I wont apologize for threatening to use my contacts, I have known people in major labels since my cousin tom introduced me when he was signed to atlantic in 1987, I know alot of them from working with them. I left the business 6 years ago and 2 years ago decided to go into disc jockey work again. It quickly snowballed into an independent record label. I still have connections in the industry and still use them. I am not going to get pissy and ruin anyone's career from this forum, I don't want to waste the connections on stupidity. People are free to think and say what ever they want. Again, i just never realized that I was a moron for believing in peace. Funny thing is, all of you who said hateful things to me because of my comment, go on to call yourselves christian too!!! that my friends is not christ like. I don't believe in him myself, well, I believe he existed and he preached some very good things, but i am not a christian and never claimed to be christ like. so if i cant have your forgiveness for the things you feel i did wrong, so be it. I won't apologize for speaking the truth in my own defense.

I see what you mean. Someone called you a moron, and therefore you should end their career forever.

Slightly psychopathic isn't it?

@Ace Entertainment wrote:I have known people in major labels since my cousin tom introduced me when he was signed to atlantic in 1987, I know alot of them from working with them.

Cousin Tom?

LOL

@Ace Entertainment wrote:I left the business 6 years ago and 2 years ago decided to go into disc jockey work again.

Well, I checked, and you provide DJ's to two small clubs, at $600+ per club, per week.

So, you decided to leave "the business" in favor of that huh?

I have a similar story. I started off washing dishes in restaurants, and advanced up the ladder to owning one myself. Just 2 years ago though, I decided to give up ownership of the restaurant and am back to washing dishes again. But if you call me a moron, I am a powerful enough dishwasher to prevent you from EVER getting reservations where I work, or any restaurant for that matter!

@Ace Entertainment wrote:It quickly snowballed into an independent record label.

Did it? Just "snowballed" huh? Kind of beyond your control to prevent.

Translation...

I have some digital recording equipment set up in my house, and dubbed it a "record label". But sadly, it hasn't snowballed enough to fund the nominal monthly fee to host your own artist's music samples?

Bet these artists missed that dichotomy though, being so transfixed and excited about the Cousin Tom "connection", right? ;-)

@Ace Entertainment wrote:I still have connections in the industry and still use them.

Of course you do. Were they the ones that suggested that you should save $50 bucks a month on hosting fees by using BandMix as your artist's "sample music page"?

Those industry connections really come in handy sometimes.

@Ace Entertainment wrote:I am not going to get pissy and ruin anyone's career from this forum, I don't want to waste the connections on stupidity.

Thank God for small favors, huh?

You better watch out though. I've sent away for some home-study courses, on DJ'ing, and pretty soon, I'll be spinning records in order to wield awe-inspiring power in the music industry too!

2 can play dat game yo? ;-)

If anyone in this forum is interested in working onstage at concerts with me, contact me, if not, i don't really care. Craig Maxim is an example of the type of ego I got sick of dealing with in the business, and the reason I quit. I didn't have to go back to work, I didn't have to build a recording studio, I didn't have to take on the artists i did, but they are actually good people who deserve a shot, but I am doing it the right way for them, keeping costs down, and using connections only when I need them. Gee craig, mr. myspace is my band page, so I don't spend 50 bucks a month to have a website for each (100 a month for two), I choose instead to spend 60 bucks a year instead and use band mix. I am going to continue to use bandmix, however i doubt I'll bother with the forums, the site itself is good for its purpose, it gives me a place to direct people to listen to samples where they cant download it unless I allow it. Myspace doesnt protect you from illegal downloading, I know some people that have some of craig maxims music now too, free of charge. When he simply could have had only the secure band mix site to send people, but i forgot, myspace is cool, its the in thing. Call me old fashioned, but I like saving 1140 dollars a year on internet sites, and I like taking a musician thru the real trials of the business so that when they get to the top, they have earned it and can stay there. I don't agree with the industry's way of signing flash in the pan one hit wonders just because they are big t**s or can sing well at twelve. I have money, don't need to make any more quick money. I will teach my signed artists how to survive in this business, I hope you do get a record deal craig maxim, i hope its just like my cousin tom's deal. But most of all, I hope the people that do this show post their comments afterward to tell you what a fool you were for the crap you say. You come in demanding an apology from me for someone else, and when I give it, you don't accept it, so you force me to defend it.

.

Dude,

Just how far exactly, does your foot actually go in your mouth?

Your comments are full of contradictions.

Get real for once.

Cousin Tom was nobody. You are nobody. We're all nobodies too. But no one here but you, has spun a yarn about being so connected in the music industry that he could ruin careers.

You speak of wanting or having peace, in your own life, but you were insulting people from the second post you made, then threatening careers, by the third or fourth, and even criticized pretty much the entire forum as a whole on occasion.

You have intentionally shunned a professional image under the guise of "saving your artist's money"? What? You expect us to buy into that?

Your career... uhh... careerS, have "snowballed" meaning "taken off" but you are saving "money" and saving your "contacts" too?

Nothing has "snowballed" but your imagination.

You are a huckster, trying to be somebody. Great. People develop successful businesses from the ground up all the time. But you want us to believe that you are a successful concert promoter, independent record label, artist management company, and on and on, when in reality you subsist on a relatively small income of servicing TWO clubs with DJ's? Oh yeah, and you don't need money, you are independently wealthy, so I guess the DJ business is just a hobby? Why charge money then? And why did you sue one of the clubs when you went to the hospital and they allegedly reneged on your contract? If you are wealthy and are truly concerned for your artists, why do you need the money from the DJ business? To the point of suing in court for back pay? Isn't your time better spent on your artists?

You're full of sh*t, it's obvious. Why keep spinning the yarn?

Why can't you admit that you are a nobody, trying to become somebody? You think you can deceive your way through life and never have it catch up to you?

If you organize a successful charity event. Great. I'm happy for you. But that doesn't make you a player in the music industry. Anyone can organize an event.

I used to know a crack head who organized a major Christian music festival. It was successful. Thousands of people, vendors were there, and regional music acts. He's still a crack head. He was just a crack head with an idea, and the balls to work it.

He was a huckster that could talk people into sh*t.

It's a talent. No doubt.

But if you are going to spin stories, at least make them reasonably believable.
