Okay...so my last post got 51 hits & two "very nice" comments (thanks guys! ;) ) They are recorded using an mP3 player & a so-so karaoke machine so sound quality is the pits. However on the last 2 I switched the karaoke mic to my PVi100 mic & heard a good difference. Sorry you have to actualy download them to hear them. Is anyone willing to give the songs a listen & a critique please? Respectfully of course...maybe that's why no one responded?!

Hey Mom,

Nice job!...Vocals sounded good even though they were dry(no FX) and alittle middy...If ya want ,Ill decode those for ya and send them to ya as MP3s at 160 0r 192 bitrate.I can heat em up aittle too if ya want... Justs takes sec. in cool edit. That way you can have them in your player..Ya got some clippin in there too thats causin distortion..Ill can take those spikes down a couple DBs' and it'll quit...Let me know..

Thanks for the review :)

Good voice. Find some musicians so it doesn't sound so canned.

(I know - that's why we;'re all here!)

Sorry...I really HATE karaoke...but I can appreciate a good voice, & you have one.

Hi Koolmom,

I tried listening to the songs but they came out sounding like a 33 played at 45 speed. (the youngsters are probably going WHUT!) unless it's just happening to me. Or you really do sound like a chipmunk.

lol Well chipmunk was not on my list that night! Not sure what's going on there for ya Koolin because I can play it fine when I click on it myself. :?:

Thanks philby, and I will try to use my actual sound system to record some stuff here soon...the boys were sleeping and I didn't wanna blast 'em out their beds!

Pretty cool mom!

Minni Ripperton ain't got nothin' on you.

That sounded like something good 'ol "computer challenged "FishermanBob would do.

I would like to take a moment to apologise (on behalf of myself and all the rest of our fellow male chauvinist, self centered noize producin' boys on the forum ), for neglecting to wish you and all the other Bandmixerino Moms a happy Mothers day.

Happy Belated Mothers Day to Y'all! :D

Self centered noize producin',
Howlin'

P.S I'll be checkin' your songs out later, after you slow 'em down.

Well thank ya Howlin!

And I am SO lost as to why they're playing fast for you! :? I'm listening to them on the audio player right now and it's playing fine for me! WTF?!?! :x I'm such a virgin when it comes to these things  I recorded the songs on my MP3 player's microphone which is probably more for dictaion so it's really sound sensitive. I have to place it like half-way accross the room & crank the singer mic up but keep the track volume down. Then when I realized how to convert them from WAV files to MP3 files (so ppl wouldn't have to download them to hear them) I did and posted them... :?: Sorry! Maybe John'll figure it out

Hey MOM,

Geez Howlin, I doubt the under 35 crowd is gonna even know who Minni Ripperton is..MAN,that chick could bust some glass with those high notes now... ..Whats going on here is a sampling problem...When you convert over to MP3, the tune has to be re sampled for that format..I know when I went from 44100 up to 48000, I had a slight speed change. When that BIG ole WAV file is compressed to MP3 ,the time between samples gets shorter...SO , it sounds like the decoder didnt allow for that in REAL TIME...I dont know what to tell cause Cool Edit resamples it for me automatically...Ya havent answered the questions I posed to ya yet about how hot they are in your multitracker, and if the spikes are audible..I kinda need to know those things before I can mix them at a good level, and take out certain pops and clicks to fit your system..If ya want me to re mix them and send them to ya as MP3s, Ill need that info..
Its detailed in your mail...

Ahh...gotcha on the converted file-thing. I used WavePad to edit & convert. I did get back to you on that John...let me know if I answered your questions or if I didn't catch it! :)

And Howlin' I'm sorry but John's right, I don't know who Minni Ripperton is! But I put 2 & 2 together... :P lol

Hey MOM,

Yeah , I got your first mail but nothing was said in that one about whether you were HEARING the click and pops...Sometimes if there not audible, they can be takin out with just parametric EQ..AND , I need to know how HOT (volume wise) the mix is in your multitracker so I dont heat it up OR cool it down to much with hiss control and click /pop elimination..All those parameters Ill be running on the tunes WILL effect thier DB levels. (Volume)...Remember , Ill be starting with your WAV...
When it goes down to MP3 there will be a little bit of LOSS compressing down to 192 MP3...SO , the more I know about how theyr'e playing back and sounding descriptively in your tracker the better I can keep them at nominal gain...

Sounded fine to me, too, koolmom. Dunno wassup wit dat stuff.

Didn't sound weird to me at all, & I LIKED your voice!

Always hated that dratted Minni Ripperton, though. Almost as irritating as Melanie!

HEY PHILBY,

Just to clairlify, did you download (open) her tunes from the link, or play them in the player...Yeah, she had WAV files up on the link ,then replaced them with the mp3s...NOW, the mp3s from the link ,when "clicked on"and opened by cool edit OR windows media ,play fine as did the WAV files. BUT the player HERE plays them too fast ...Man , is that a mystery or what?...Can anyone explain that?
