There are so many great guitarists it tends to intimidate one OUT of taking up the instrument altogether. You got legends like Vai, Malmsteen, and Satriani, who withstand the test of time. You got speedsters like Zakk Wylde, (my personal Favorite) who tear up a fretboard in such a way it makes you wanna cry. With so many guitarists out there, who can say who's the best, 'best' is a term dependant on the individual in this case. So, I ask you, who's YOUR favorite?

Yea.. This list would be huge. But in these current times, my favorite is Adam Jones (Tool). He may not be the fastest, but he always does what's proper for the song.

My favorite is David Gilmour, I couldn't picture something like Comfortably Numb, or Wish You Were Here, being done any other way.

I'm actually really shocked and amazed that Alex Skolnik hasn't been brought up yet. Most of you know him from Testament and TSO, but check out the Alex Skolnik Trio (Jazz) if you already haven't. The dude really knows how to play and his classical training really shows through when he explains what he has just played. A couple others would be Buckethead & Bumblefoot. Kind of odd with their two-hand tapping techniques, but different and technical none the less.

Yngwie and Alex are definetly my two favorites, but there are many, many greats out there that probably haven't even been heard of yet...

The greatest player I ever heard believe it or not was my older brother. He could have been up there with the best but drugs and alchohol took over his life. He was the reason I picked up the guitar and was my mentor untill his death last year. As far as my other favorites in no particular order.......

Clapton
Jimmy Page
SRV
Johnny Winter
Billy Gibbons
Hendrix
BB King
Gary Moore
Van Halen
Roy Clark....Say who? That's right I said Roy Clark. He's a master on any stringed instrument.
