could I run a scenario by you, just to get opinions as if I was in the wrong? if some sort of establishment whether NON-PROFIT or S chapter corporation, cooperative, what ever, decides to host a songwriting contest involving contestants performing their songs in front of an audience and a 3-panel judging team, and the "owners" decide to charge a $5.00 entrance fee for everybody, the audience, the judges and THE ENTERTAINERS/SONGWRITERS/PERFORMERS, would you consider that a PAY-FOR PLAY scheme? ..the payout is 1/2 the gate proceeds going to the winner deemed by the 3-panel judging crew, the other 1/2 of proceeds goes to the "house".. is that considered pay-to-play? if I am wrong about my opinion of this I need to give Mike Birch an apology..he got so hot with me he unfriended me.. geeesh...

Vader Jones Oh that's bs.....the owner is getting free entertainment in his spot on top of musicians and their friends who may not ever set foot in his spot coming in and spending money....that's def pay to play n a good idea, shady AF, but smart on venue owners side

Dane Allen I dunno,, I could see charging $5.00 a head for the audience, but to charge the performers/songwriters seems absurd to me..I am not here to judge their business ethics, but only to find out if I was wrong in my opinion of that kind of set-up as being pay-to-play..

Vader Jones If I opened an establishment and did not have funds to run it, then maybe I should not own such an establishment...I guess if you're in your early 20s, a bar tab for pay might work or playing for peanuts is cool but I think once you're a grown up, payi...See More
