that was one of your best ever. Good to hear you mixing it up with some covers and I can actually relate to what you're going for on this (not Zappa/ Beefheart stuff).

I think you can relate because this comes from the genre you listen to the most, right??
I haven't listened to Zappa or Vliet in ages. But I do listen to Marc Ducret, John Lurie, Bad Plus, etc. which is all a tad avant-garde.

Yeah. Or grew up listening to. My favorite BOC is actually the much maligned Imaginos album. Loved that since I was 15. The first 3 albums were their best era, though. Black & White album covers. After that, it's track to track. Some good, a lot of it not quite so good.
As far as Dylan, I'm not a fan or a hater. I do appreciate when someone can apply his style to something like this great song, though.
I just couldn't resist shouting "ZILLAGOD!" at the end, though. They always did that at the end on the live albums. 8)

cool take on "Godzilla" there, Jook!

as for other's interpreting Dylan....i have to put The Band at the top or close to the top of that list.

I've always liked the resignation and vulnerability that Melanie brought to her version of Mr. Tambourine Man

Whoa, Jook--went a bit non-sequitur on us there. From Dylan (understandably) to BOC? Is this the same guy who complained when I (allegedly) went OT in the vid thread? Ha!

Was watching the news last night, and some writers/authors (isn't an author just a writer who has learned to spell "pretentious"?) are none too happy ol' Bob is a Laureate. But he wrote some great tunes, eh? Positively 4th Street--just to name one--still takes me back to a very specific place in time. Like a good tune should.

But then, so does Godzilla. I used to love BOC, and in a past life, when I played guitar, emulated Buck Roeser's licks--for example, Last Days of May. Almost makes me wanna pick up an LP and start playin' it again--but I promise, not in public.

As far as covers of Dylan, I agree w/ Rui--Hendrix's cover of Watchtower is the best I've ever heard. On the PBS News they said a certain professor had been nominating Dylan for the Nobel for 15 years straight--without success. He stopped a few years ago, and now... Life is funny that way.

Here's BOC themselves doing Godzilla 3 years ago in Boston: https://youtu.be/7RVGXbyt5N4
