Where is your music? Many musicians on this site (as well as on other forums) want to hear it before they wast their time answering posts or emails looking for musicians. :)

For some reason that is a notorious problem here; no one replies when contacted.
I've been seeing this same complaint here for years and years . . .

You have to check dates, zip codes and such to narrow it down. Many of us have put projects together here. Hard work and patience are sometimes rewarded but remember you are dealing with people - generally with big egos.

Some don't reply if you don't post music. Some hear your music and don't like it or are intimidated by it and embarrassed to reply.

Some are assholes. i know - musicians?! Who would have thought that? 8)

Good to know. I wasn't going to join that tribute band, but.....

What everyone else posted above! When you send messages to people you find here, do you notice when the last time the profile was active? Do you tell them what you are looking for? Your profile is pretty vague on details.
Note that you only joined a few days ago, and the people you messaged may just not have gotten around to checking back - or they have even forgotten their log-in info!

Excellent Topic and even more excellent replies. There is no point to expect any rersponse with no music posted and of course it is not always possible to put something up immediately, but it is a musicians site. Everyone has very good points and Guitar mike tells it like it is. Do not be discouraged and be realistic, there are no guarantees even if you become a super duper exclusive deluxe paid in full and more member. The web is a sticky place and difficult to navigate.

But please put it all in perspective ... this site is only a microcasm of the macro world of "musicianarys". Talbot mentions some realistic points and EGO is rampant. Look at the state of the world now and can one really expect much of anything from the Internet ... from people ... from "leaders" or even musos ... I think not.

All this being said, I like very much this Site and although I liked it better before the last "changes" ensued, there is no other like it and I hope it can maintain whatever it is that I like for a bit longer in the face of all that surrounds it and infects our world. It is easy to slag off things but more difficult to be appreciative, complimentary and forgiving. Once again excellent Thread.

I have been posting for 2 years and never had a reply. I think this is the general problem of most sites. It is sad that people won't reply and why do they look or post if they are not going to reply?

I'm slightly confused about this "posting on here" business. Do you mean that you post on the forum, where hardly any Bandmix members are going to see any of the "looking for..." ads that clog up the place,? Or do you mean that you created a profile on Bandmix at large, with no responses there?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the forum heading is General Music Chat" as opposed to "General Musician Search" Basically this forum has been a source of entertainment for more than a few musicians. It's a place to let others know about their videos, (bummers...4Kbps is too slow for me to watch them) A place to post new music (My crappy player won't let me listen to any of those either) and a place to discuss things about the music community in general. ( Yay!!!!! at least my browser and 4Kbps modem still lets me participate on that level.)

So on behalf of many who really like this place for what it is, thanks Band Mix staff. :)

I could be standing in a room full of people who call themselves piano players and not like any of them enough to actually start up a conversation about working together. It will take a certain kind of person and I haven't found but one in America so far. He'd rather not travel, and doesn't want to wonder how much the next gig pays...so he got a day job instead.

The chances of finding exactly what you're looking for through a random post here or there in a month is extremely small. Then the people you would consider worthwhile might not think you're what they're looking for.

It does seem rude that no one will reply to a message. They might want to avoid the conflict of saying they aren't interested.

According to your profile, you just joined this place a week ago. You have no music or videos on your profile, no details in your profile except 'no metal' and you want people to jam with.

As had been said ad infiniteum , to find good people to play with takes persistence, patience and diligence. I just had to say 'it's not working' to yet another person who contacted me about doing an acoustic duo. After six 3+ hour practices, we still hadn't got past 20 songs - despite me suggesting half a dozen songs he agreed to get the music for and learn for the last 3 times we got together. The final straw was last night's practice - when he hadn't shown up 40 minutes after scheduled start time, I called him, got v/m, he called right back 'what's up?' - Uhh, where the f**k are you dude?' (I didn't actually swear) 'I fell asleep after work and just woke up, I'm just leaving'. He lives 45 minutes away - I told him not to bother. And told him today that it wasn't working for me.
