We've had many elements of socialism in this country for many decades. For me an ideal government is a convergence of the best aspects of socialism and capitalism. If it wasn't for social security, medicaid, medicare, food stamps, etc. millions of people would lose their life's savings/and/or be dead. I'm NOT afraid of becoming socialist as we already are in many respects.

If you already have health care insurance, whether through your employer or privately, nothing will change. Another form does not frighten me.

Bob,

You are a frog.

From Wik

The boiling frog story is a widespread anecdote describing a frog slowly being boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is placed in boiling water, it will jump out, but if it is placed in cold water that is slowly heated, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. The story is often used as a metaphor for the inability of people to react to significant changes that occur gradually.[1] According to contemporary biologists the premise of the story is not literally true; a frog submerged and gradually heated will jump out.[2][3] However, some 19th-century experiments suggested that the underlying premise is true, provided the heating is sufficiently gradual

You people understand that a LARGE percentage of the jobs in this country come from small business RIGHT? I was in Business for 5 years. Based on the info. I would just pay the fine er uh TAX (yeah thats the ticket)! It is cheaper for a business owner to let his employee's get health insurance from the gubment. So Jimmy guess what is going to happen to MOST of those employed by small business? Thats right they are going to LOSE their employer provided health insurance. I thought you WERE smart and all! Or is it you don't care if it doesn't effect you?

Mike, could that be because the grandfather of Obamacare is Mitt Romney? That couldn't be, he wants to repeal it! Somebody is lying!

"a LARGE percentage of the jobs in this country come from small business"
this is true
but Large business flood the unemployment lines, go bust on their pension programs,
leave town and don't clean up the wreck they foist on the environment.
but they still get the same deal as the small business, no over sight, regulation and control.
which occasionally they need to keep them from killing large amounts of people at once.
exxon, dow chem, john mansfeild and w r grace just to name a few.

these are important industries but they need to complete the job before being let out of the room.
not just throw some dirt over the slag hole and call it a day.

we do live in a modern world and making sure the chick filet franchise owner gets a good vacation is not really a top priority of mine.

"we do live in a modern world and making sure the chick filet franchise owner gets a good vacation is not really a top priority of mine." JCP

Do not people open businesses to make a profit? If that profit is continually diminished by the Federal govn., or if the ability to provide goods and services is diminished by constant growing federal rules, regulations, oversight, tax increases, etc., etc., etc., is it not logical business, will diminish itself? Over 100,000 businesses go under every year, from stats I have read, mostly because of the hoops they have to jump through, and the costs involved, not because they cannot provide good or services people do not want.

No business should be forced by govn. to provide anything for an employee. He offers what he offers and those who are hired make their choices.

The Federal govn needs to stay out of American's lives and leave things to the states to handle. ALL they can do, all non-local politicians can do is mess things up for the majority in varying states and circumstances.

Forcing anyone to do anything they have God-given inalienable rights to do is criminal done under a cloak of American systems.

The more people depend on government (their neighbor's money stolen and misspent) the more it will become despotic in nature.

No true American endorses pollution, or malfeasance. The states should address it, not Washington. DC should address NOTHING but what the Constitution limits it to.
