When I was a kid, cartoons played Saturday mornings,
then the music shows played all day and most of the
night, Bandstand was a big one, we always watched
Hee-Haw on Saturday nights, then Don Kirshner's
Rock Concerts. Get up early on Sunday mornings
around here and watch the Beatle's cartoons and the
Jackson's, before the church shows started.

With VH1 and MTV we still don't have near the music
shows we use to, I can only watch YoYo Ma play
Beethoven so many times.

Where'd the live music shows(or creative lip sycnhing)
go, is utube i? utube's so big you miss alot of acts.

Great thread Lynard, I LOVE the old school looney tunes cartoons. You know the road runner and coyote, Foghorn Leghorn, bugs bunny, and so on! I loved Rat Patrol, Star Trek, Hogans Hero's, Gilligans Island, Bewitched, Charlie Brown!

Lately I feel like my generation doesn't matter. I mean I don't like ANYTHING on t.v. Basically they don't make programming of ANY KIND for old farts like me! Could it be I have a closed mind? Could it be I shouldn't have to accept the dumbing down of our society? Me thinks its probably a combination of both.
A friend called me Tuesday and asked me to fill in for his guitar player. This picker is Good! A full time musician. I have a week and a half to learn 50 songs! At first I was a little overwhelmed, but dangit its starting to be fun! I'll be ready! I have been doing a lot of wood shedding. My hand is a lot better. The Dr. released me today after the laceration on my hand. Fortunately it was in a place that didn't effect my playing one bit. Except that first day he gave me some GOOD painkillers!

Lynard, thank you for the nice things you said about my musical skills! Stringdancer is probably a nice guy and respected in his circle. He came to this site and caused some discord a couple of years back! I think he has a lack of communication skills and compensates thru intimidation. Also I think he is from mexico and definately simpathetic of illegals!

I had the Bay City Roller's album
S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night (repeat......)

The Banana Splits, I'm singing there theme
song in my head now. A couple of months
ago me and my grandson watched some episodes
of the Banana Split's on utube, but he really got
off on Underdog.

You know Mr Haley I loved all those old shows too,
maybe that's why I don't watch TV anymore, the new
TV shows don't entertain me. 50 songs, piece of cake
for a player, they should have give you 75. lol
I didn't say anything nice about your musical skills,
you either got them or you don't, you do. Many others
do also, but you can't tell till they post some music,
and then you can tell. Your a good player Mr Haley
and all I want to do is get better by picking up every
little piece of info on playing and writing music that I can.
So I got my eye on you Mr Haley, and all the other pickers
and players and singers and songwriters that are on this forum.
I'm going to try to ignore the rest and only learn from the best.

Stringdancer what could he say to get banned off this forum?
I'm not a very good judge of internet people, and the way they
choose to act on this forum(I'm sure they act different in person).
His back is soaked?

You ask where`s the music. That is a question that every single musician should send in to these production companies that are allowing the teenie boppers to control the music of the present. My opinion is that as soon as people started WATCHING music instead of LISTENING to music was the beginning of the end. Today you must really dig to find any network or radio station that offers a high percentage of music. MTV, VH1, CMT, etc.etc. play those stupid reality shows 24/7. Look,...no offense if thats your bag but to me, it seems to be another teenie bopper thing. How can anyone give the slightest bit of crap what a bunch of spoiled rich kids are doing. Its actually a terrible influence on the population in my opinion. Yep, we are in a situation with the music industry in the present where Looks and bells and whistles mean more than Lyrics and talent. Definately gone to hell in a handbasket.

Sorry to sway off subject. Just a sore subject with me.

I could never understand people who made so much hay about joining the circus, but their only talent seemed to be bitching about the clowns.

Do you own this site to Bullwinkle, I guess I'll
do what I want. Your not the only contributor,
and you could contribute more music, and less
of your religous bs.

Well if you need to know JCP, I don't work out
on Thursdays, so I have all this free time on my
hands (about 2 hours), that I fill with a little internet.

And I find the back and forth banter fun, most can't
take it, and I haven't even got to resort to name calling
with you Jcp. Even though I got a million of them. lol

Why would you be scared of your own computer.
You probably have issues from your past that make
you scared of everything. Is it the little man syndrome.

Let me let you in on a little secret, Bullwinkle, I'm a real
person Lynard Dylan is something I made up, who would be
scared of something that's made up, a man who hides behind
his religion.

I don't need any little secrets from your little pea brain, if you get
scared turn off your computer. Do you run anything besides your
mouth? Bet the Catholic boys had fun with your punk azz in the
locker room, now you can act big on the internet, to prove to them
how wrong they were about your chickensh#tedness.

They were right.

You can come out from under the covers now Jcp,
Mom won't let them get you.
