frikkum frakkum frikkum frukkum frakkum
I get to drive & drive & drive for my dinner, just like the pilgrims did. I hate reenactments!
I'm goin' to Richmond to see ppl I really have nothing whatsoever in common with (& don't even LIKE, for the most part), to do what I'd MUCH rather be doing at home, & I don't even get to cook.
I just made some smoked venison soup. It's kinda strange, but very tasty. I've never had a smokey soup before, but it works somehow. I was gonna experiment a little more & also make my usual traditional stuff. Eh...maybe next weekend...
So the wife, looking at the soup, asks if we're gonna take anything. I suggest the soup. She reminds me that her sister is vegetarian or vegan or one of them odd things.
We had her sister over one time for T-day. I remember the hell I went through trying to figger out what the heck to make her. I ended up making her her very own "vegetarian turkey." I made it out of kholrabi & cabbage & garlic & parmesan cheese & it had these little legs made outta cauliflower with brocolli wings. It was very festive & a huge pain in the ass to make, but I doubt it was very good to eat...lol... She seemed to like it, though, & took the rest of it with her (perhaps to throw away). I remember it was quite green, but it did resemble a turkey!
So, recalling the frikken frakken frukken hassle all of THAT was, & keeping in mind that we also hafta TRAVEL with whatever we take, I decided to take a few bottles of wine this time.
It might be a heppy thanksgiving after all! Most of her relatives are
extremely strict southern baptists, & SOMEONE hasta drink the wine!
Um...maybe I'll take my sherry-&-honey-soaked fruit salad, too...just to be nice...
I really hope you folks have a great holiday & enjoy it to its fullest!
