Now that the terrorist war criminals are possibly going to have civilian trials in New York I have decided to officially refer to Obama as Lame Duck Obama and Biden as Lamer Duck Biden. (Sorry for the non-musical post)

There's only two possible outcomes for a civilian trial of known terrorists in New York. Outcome number 1: Terrorists attack New York with the courthouse the main target and vast collateral damage (thousands dead). Outcome number 2: Outraged American patriots attack the courthouse with significant collateral damage with hundreds dead. Oh and a third outcome, we wave good-bye to impeached Lame Duck Obama and Lamer Duck Biden...

You Know we live in the biggest pansy assed society in the world when the president of our country bows down to some one else.
I really am not concerned with puppets like him.
Killing a man is a serious issue.
You take away everything he has and everything he might ever become.

bob - I wouldn't be so quick to judge. 25 ppl have been determined to have been wrongfully detained, & have been released. I don't necessarilly think it's required for them to have civil trials, but someone, the military or whoever, should find out who is the good & the bad guys in our military prisons. Especially now that we've found 25 innocents there.

That's 25 ppl who were held for long periods of time for simply being in their own country.

Say what you will about war & such, but as "liberators," as we claim to be, this doesn't sound very liberating to me.

I'm all for detaining & even killing terrorists. I'll also allow for all-out war, where only "god can sort them out," as it were. But some of these are ppl who've been arrested on suspicions, not facts. The facts need to come to light, so that justice can be served. Since we are not treating the entire country as an enemy, we need to allow ppl to live & walk the streets in their own country without worrying about spending years upon years in an American prison for no reason other than vague suspicion.

When we were in Korea, great steps were taken to assure the difference between the North & South ppl's. We had to do the same thing in Viet Nam. It's a problem inherent in occupation, but as the occupying force, we need to assure the ppl whose country we are now controlling that they needn't worry about being detained for many years on a mere whim.

Yeah, life isn't fair, as JH put it, but it is our job, as the controlling force in any area, to keep everything as fair as possible, to keep ppl from being unnecessarilly put through hell. We won't make any allies that way. At the end of the war, we certainly shouldn't be trying to subjugate the masses. Our goal here, should be to eradicate an enemy of humanity. There will be collateral damages, by the definition of war, but it is still our job to make ppl free - free from Al Qaida's & the Taliban's tyranny, while not replacing it with our own.

Yeah, this is a different type of war, but it's a war that we've helped to design with these possibly necessary tactics. When ppl are treated unfairly by us, though, we look as bad as the enemy we're fighting, to me.

I see quite well thank you. I see a bunch of conspiracy-bent, paranoid fear mongering. Let's let the justice system do its job; the feds can find a person guilty as well as the military can. Or maybe you'd like to just line them all up and shoot them?

Remember how mad we all got when Iran took our soldiers hostage, back in the 70's? They were on American sovereign soil, in our embassy.

Now here we are, taking ppl from their soil, arresting them & locking them up indefinitely, on weak suspicions, in some cases.

I cen see how this would anger them against us, & make us look no better in the eyes of the world, than the Iranians looked back then.

It's an easy comparison, in their eyes, I'm sure. We invaded a country whose citizens never asked us to invade. We took it over, overthrew the ruler (who we had backed in the past, btw), called it "liberation, & encouraged his hanging. Now we're still there, & some of their ppl are in our prison who may have done nothing wrong to us or their countrymen. 25 ppl have been found to have done nothing to warrant their arrest, & have been released after an inordinately long time.

There are others who may have shared that fate. Should we not work to free the ones deserving of their freedom? Can you seriously say no to that question?

Why waste your breath Phil? Some people would like to throw out the Geneva Convention, heck throw out the Constitution while you're at it. I would be the first to pull the plug on these guys if they are guilty, but only after they've had their due process. That's the way it works in America.

I'm still trying to understand this mentality, Jimmy, that's all. Maybe they can sway me. Who knows?

I don't want to be that guy that everyone says is anti-American, so if you have a real, cohesive, unemotional argument, convince me. I'd like to believe in the USA & its ppl again. Kinda hard to do that when all I'm hearing is fear-mongering, racism, & misplaced pride, though.

Bowing to one another is a custom found in many cultures. I see no wrong in being a Roman in Rome, Glen. Bowing is not a sign of subjugation, everywhere. It is a sign of respect. I am happy to see my country's leader showing respect for others, & it makes me wonder why it bothers you. It looks like typical American arrogance to say he should not bow in simple respect. I would equate this to being asked to take off your shoes in someone's home. You do it out of simple respect, not subjugation. Are you a person who says no to that request, & stomp on into their house? I would hope not, yet you seem awfully upset over this simple display of respect for a ruler of another country, in his own lands. I don't get it.

It also disturbs me to think that some of us would find it so offensive to try to determine who's good or bad in our Gitmo & other facilities. Do we really want ppl in there who do not deserve to be? To what end? What are we saying about ourselves as a ppl when we stay determined to keep ppl prisoner who may have done nothing to warrant such treatment?

Yes, their treatment of our ppl is beastly, when they capture one of us. Does this make it fine for us to lock up possibly innocent ppl in retaliation? I think not. If you want to play eye for an eye, put the proven guilty on death row & execute them, do not imprison innocents.

The only place innocent deaths are acceptable, to me, is in a total all-out war situation where we are cluster-bombing an area we know holds the enemy, & even there, collateral damage should be kept to a minimum if at all possible.

We need to remember that no matter how friendly a term "collateral damage" is, it means innocent ppl are dying & being maimed at our hands, through our actions. I do not wish to be associated with genocide or murder, no matter how friendly you wanna make it sound.

I saw a bumper sticker on a mega-gas guzzling oversized luxury pickup truck today:

That reminded me of the complete and total idiocy paranoia gripping our country today-

Socialism IS society, we wouldn't have roads, schools, parks, libraries, and youth centers without it. Ironic that the truck with the anti-socialist propaganda bumper sticker NEEDS socialist highways to get where it's going.

Capitalist democracy OTOH, pretty much amounts to anarchy, pillaging, and rape. If you don't think so, just look at what wall st. did to Joe American last year, I can't find better terms to describe it..
