The earliest opening of ski resorts in Colorado in fifty years, Chicago possibly getting measurable snow this weekend (earliest in recorded history there), freezing my butt off at the disc golf course today (temp 38, WIND CHILL below freezing), a hard early freeze tomorrow morning in Kansas City, Farmer's Almanac predicting record cold for the middle of the U.S. this year, etc. Maybe our savior Obama has brought us the end of global warming. Maybe he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize after all. Maybe everybody in the Middle East will freeze their butts off this year and be too cold to fight...

Neither you nor I are scientists. We rely on people with better understandings of such things and the news media, and of course, our government, to tell us the facts.

Unfortunately, more scientists than not are reliant on corporate or government money, not only to sustain their work, but to sustain their lives. For that, they must play "favorites" to whomever funds their ventures.

The "charity" groups that are supposed to represent the interests of human-kind are bloated and corrupt organizations that, much like scientists, rely on donors with interests to support their livelihoods.

Then, factor in that the mass media and federal government are both part of the corrupt corporate conglomerate whom serve far deeper interests than clean environments and sleeping well at nights.

In fact, there's so much propaganda and mis-information from ALL sides, that the odds that what information you or I happen to find is unlikely at best to be factual and non-biased.

Considering all of that, maybe you should take a step back, and take a good look at your post, why you posted it, and ask yourself that big "why" question-

Why did you make this thread? Was it to 'taunt' those who don't believe as you do?

Keep in mind that most propaganda aims to divide people and then pit them against each other.

You are making a fool out of yourself.

I like you bob, but don't fall for this crap. Politics are ugly and sinister. We're all Americans, and quite frankly- we all really do want the same things. There are a lot of forces at play that only care to keep us all divided on "wedge issues" like GW, abortion, etc.. don't support them.

Some people say there is no global warming so their factories can keep pumping pollutants into the air and water and they can keep making money by cutting corners and killing us off with poisons that we eat, drink and breathe. They would say that Bob is absolutely right, you have early snowfall and cold weather so don't worry about what they're doing to the planet as it will take care of itself.
Others will say that global warming is melting the glaciers and that is altering the ocean currents that spread warmth around the world and that is why you are having such differences in the weather with an "unusually" early winter and you need to send them money so they can fight the good fight (without missing a meal) on your behalf.
I think that there is a bit of global warming, but man plays a small part in it as it is a natural occurrence that would happen with or without us. We might be speeding it up, but it's like it'll happen maybe 100 years earlier than it would have anyway and we happen to be living close to that time frame give or take 1000 years. And since the last ice age occurred 20,000 years ago, 100 years isn't very relevant. Just like the fact that we will eventually run out of fossil fuel. That's pretty much a given, but exactly when it anybody's guess. It's just a good way for the corporations to jack up fuel prices now instead of later.
We need to stop the pollution and look towards a renewable energy source, not because the sky is falling, but because we want to see that beautiful sky without the smog, and without coughing up our lungs which pretty much kills the moment. And also because we need energy bills that we can actually afford.
So it all boils down to what we want to believe as far as global warming. Personally, I would just go with the people who want to make this a better world, than the ones who say they can affect the global climate one way or another.
My two cents.

Well, when it comes to the weather predictions, I always look to the woolie bears. They're a real furry lil caterpillar out here in the East, if you never saw one. The darker they get, the worse the winter will be. They show up right at this time of year, & you can see them crossing the road a lot right now.

Now, this year, the woolies that I've seen are real dark in the face & the other end, but much lighter in the middle.

That tells me that it's gonna start off real cold, then get kinda mild for most of the winter, but then it'll end with a nasty cold spell.

I dunno squiddly dot about no global warming, but that's what my sources rell me about the coming winter...

So....what do your woolies look like?

I'm not trying to taunt anybody. I didn't make my observation for political reasons. The idea that there's man-made global warming doesn't make any sense to me. Yeah, I'm no scientist. Yeah, I'll agree that the Earth has heated up in recent years (but actually has cooled the last three years), and that there IS a world wide agreement of sorts for everybody to conserve energy and reduce pollutants. And there's certainly nothing wrong with more efficient energy use and a cleaner environment. BUT, the theory of man-made global warming doesn't cut it with me. Mars has recently heated up in the exact same proportion as the Earth. It's quite possible man didn't cause that. "Experts" were predicting a very active hurricane season and did we have a single hurricane strike the U.S. this year? I can't remember one. Although there has been some areas of very heavy rainfall (southeast) there really wasn't very many tornadoes this year. Back in the 1970's there was serious concern that man's activities would lead to global cooling. Whatever happened to acid rain? I haven't heard much about that lately. What about the ozone hole getting bigger and bigger? I haven't heard much about that either. I read a report by a scientist that he's concerned that right after 2012 we will enter a period of very serious cold weather, almost a mini ice age. If that happens then perhaps global warming will be a distant, fond memory and world leaders will call for more carbon emissions to heat up the Earth...

Global Warming is just the latest scam by the globalist's.
Yes Bob we're in a "cooling period" since 2002.
Cap & trade and Carbon Tax are the catalyst's behind this dupe!

Lets not forget that The Patriot Act was already written on 911; these maniacs will stop at nothing to further their agenda... there's a Hitler born every day!

And this is my last political post; you can't show the blind anything

This WASN'T a political post for me. I wasn't trying to show anybody anything. I was just making some common sense observations. Like I was FREEZING my ass off October 10. Like where's all the hurricanes? Like what happened to the Earth the last seven years (thanks for correcting me, the Earth has cooled for seven years, not three). Like why has Mars heated up? Just wondering that's all...

all I know is that our air, ground water, soil, etc.. ALL contaminated. There's nowhere in the country to find clean, drinkable water without treating it first. We can't eat any wild-caught fresh water fish, and most salt-water fish (safely!), because of mercury contamination.

We may or may not be the direct or indirect reason the polar ice caps are melting, but we ARE the reason for the nuclear waste, mercury contamination, factory dumping, toxic wastelands, etc.. that we've surrounded ourselves with.

We breed like rabbits with no concept of managing resources. We reward socially irresponsible people who have more kids than they can afford with money and celebrity (welfare moms, jon&kate, that mormon family with 17+ kids)...

But worst of all, we ignore our own common sense and allow our leaders *sponsored by pepsi! to sell our interests to the highest bidder and then get us all riled up on abortion and gun rights.

we are our own worst enemies.

With all due respect, you put 6 billion bacteria on a fresh meatball, I guarantee those bacteria will consume and multiply with no regard towards their own future demise. Humans seem to be equally as dense as to cause and effect.

I guess what I'm getting at is that the GW issue is the diversion. The same things we would want to do to stop GW are the SAME things needed to stop our own demise (from ourselves). Whether or not GW is real doesn't change the fact that we need to stop multiplying like there's no tomorrow, develop clean renewable energy and develop a manageable food chain that can feed the planet today and in the future.. sustainably.

Keeping you and I arguing over whether GW is real, and what causes it- is exactly what the powers that be want from us, so they can continue to profit off environmental irresponsibility and social destruction.

To me it is an udeniable fact that we, as a species have damaged our environment.
It did not just begin with industrialisation.
All species left to overpopulate will "shyt in their nest".
I also believe that nature has an uncanny ability to recover.
As far as the politically motivated doomsday prophecies of man made "global warming" it is propaganda, scare tactic bullshirt.
Funny how all the "global warming prophets" are uberwealthy and fly around in private jets telling us we should all walk to work, or ride a bike.

Sic mori tyrannus!

This Indian Chief in Oklahoma heard on the radio the local weatherman say to get ready for a pretty cold winter. The chief had all the braves go out and gather extra firewood for the tribe. The next day the chief was listening again to the radio forecast and the weatherman updated the warning that they were expecting a colder winter than previously stated, so the chief once again sent the braves out for even more firewood. The next day, the chief heard the weatherman state that they were now expecting the worse winter in several decades. The chief called the weatherman on the phone and said, "What makes you think the winter is going to be THAT cold?" and the weatherman replied, "You should see the local Indians, they're gathering firewood like crazy!"

Now that was funny.

I got lost deep in the forrest once. I was really concerned with the daylight growing short. I remembered and old indian trick that the moss grows on the south side of the trees. After walking for about 10 miles I noticed the moss grew all the way around the trees.
I ran out of food and water. After about three days walking in circles I succomed to exposure and died, 100 meters from a McDonalds.
