Last night my band did a gig at a new venue, which means new folks to entertain. The gig was great as ussual.

But, I got infactuated with this woman there. She was there when we set up, kept messing with me all night when I would run around the crowd playing. Talked to me like she had some interest in the breaks. So after we tore down shes still there and I run into her and have a really great conversation about everything. Im leaving and say how about you give me your phone number so I can call you sometime. She says I dont know if you would respect me if I did. I know this look and tone, why cause Ive used it 100s of times myself. At gigs I rarely ever ask a woman for a phone number, ussually they ask for mine or just give theirs. So Im in a state of shock this morning, along with a little hungover. I got a big ole piece of humble pie thrown my way. I guess she just thought of me like an employee or something and I guess that is what I was in this situation. So many things run thru your head, stuff like this isnt my real job, or Im a neat fun guy. She said I dont do myspace or facebook or twitter. Im like I didnt ask that, just your number so I can call sometime. For once I totally didnt read the signs. Back to the ole drawing board.

A side note, our singer informed us that hes ready to take a big break for personal reasons. So after we finish our gigs that I have lined up, I cant book anything else. So I may be looking for another rock group to play in. If anyone knows of a group in my area working 2-4 nights a month I will be available come the middle of Nov.

What a sombering situation, got shot down by a woman and our singer tells me to quit booking gigs with him in the fold. Sad, Im sure a lot of you will say get another singer, but this guy in this group is the one irreplaceable component. So im a little blue this morning.

Philby, Im not down that bad.

The gal thing was just a shock to me, cause I totally misread her and havent had that happen in a long time. Im in this study mode of women and thought I had some stuff figured out. The crazy thing is if I had gotten her number I might not ever have called. On the side if Im really interested one of my friends knows her and all about her so it wouldnt be to hard to find her if I really wanted to. In fact I used to do business with the company she works for. I woudl jsut love to walk in there in business mode in an Armini suit and freak her out. It could happen just for the hell of it. If I were the Capt I would probably do that.

Ive come to realize that my band is probably on its last legs. We are so physical when we play that Im at the point that it hurts for a day or so. Plus the material we do really pushes a singer to his limits. I dont know how the guy that sings with us does it. He puts people half his age to shame. If I sing it changes the whole dynamic of the group. SOme things need to just be left alone and respected for what they are.

Ive got some options and offers for different things, so Im cool, plus my solo thing.

Maybe we should recruit a hot female singer, this Aint Yo Mama! Sounds cool.

But it does take a little toll when you put so much in to it.

Oh Yeah Philby, I know you hate Zep, but last night we did the best version of WHOLE LOTTA LOVE that weve ever done. Ive got a delay and whammy pedal and last night in the noise section, I got as close to the record as even page could have, then we funked it out like the Live Zep and then into my big solo. and I just nailed it. It was funny, I just went into the zone. And although you dont like them, I think if you had heard what I did you would have been proud. Im not a note for note player, but our singer said did you sample the record, it sounded just like the record in all that noise, you know the honey bee section. Who knows may be the last time I play it with these guys.

Eh...I slam Zep a lot, I know...they do have some material that I like in spite of myself.

Seems like you've been in the zone a lot, lately, JW. It's a shame that you're seeing it end & stuff. I'd have loved to have heard your playing on that one. Yeah, it's a good tune.

I dont have video, I wish I had some that was worth a hoot. All the stuff Ive got the audio quality stinks and unlike lots of folks if it aint happening, Im not going to post it. You only have one opportunity for a first impression so why go posted inferior stuff all over You Tube or where ever. There have been some things posted of us that look pretty good, but I still prefer pics.
