I'm out of the loop. When did Peavey begin being Chinese? "Made In The USA" was sorta their trademark selling point, wasn't it? I guess no one cares as much now that we've gone global...

I've used the Combo 115, & I still use the 400, & they work fine, but I'm not hearing good stuff about them anymore since they moved their assembly ops to China.

>??

All I know is I have (2) 2x15's with Black Widows and (2) 4x12's, all Peavey.

They were cheap and work pretty well. Never blew any speakers, but if I did I'd just replace them/replace and rewire.

The 2x15's were 2 for 100$ and the 4x12's were 2 for 300$.

For that price, I'd even consider setting them on fire. LOL

I have heard that thier quality / reliablity has gone to crap sincethe Chinese connetion.

Probably just sour grapes.

The Chinese can and do buy the best, most modern production equipment available.
They intend to bury us with their psuedo free interprise sysytem.

So far they are doing a damn fine job of it too.

if I'm not mistaken many peavey amps have been foreign made since the eighties??? no?

looking over at my 50/50... nope made in the usa. hmm, would not have guessed that.

yeah, china is bad news. japan - ok, china/indonesia - bad news.

Ive got 4 of their newer monitors and they work great and sound better than the old 1542s thats we still have plus they are half the size.

I would imagine most people that play for along time have at some point or another used Peaveys.

LOL

That was my 1st bass, too, sans. I'm amazed that I kept at it after starting off with that albatross! Horrible sound, heavy as crap, horrible action...just horrible!

Only had it a short while until I could switch to a Yamaha, then a Jazz. These days I play my old Aris Pro II & a SounDesign 5 string.

Peavey P.A., bass, and guitar. Their amps have never broken down on me. I have nothing bad to say about them. I love my T-60 and T-27 guitars. My bass is defretted. I don't need anything else.

I never played through a Peavey amp I liked. They always just sounded dull and lifeless to me. Back in the 80's, we all saw them as the generic alternative...

I tried one out not long ago and it left me uninspired lol.

But then again, I don't like Fender amps either...

Had one when I was younger. Never quite had the guitar CHUNK as regards sound but for keys it seemed to work ok.

there's a lot of peavey stuff I wouldn't touch either...
my buddy used to have this special 112 - that thing was horrible. absolutely horrible.

but the classic chorus 2-12 had a fantastic clean chorus sound (not much else)

the classic tweed/tube series is easily just as nice as the fender blues jr/bassman stuff if ya like that sort of thing...(I do)

the 5150? c'mon. if nothing else you have to give it up for that amp.

twas one of the greats!
