I've taken the first step to quitting as it's stating to take it's toll on my lungs! After about a month of research and questions, I've purchased the electronic cig with serious doubt that it'll replace the real thing... I've tried everything in the past and the only way is to get as close as I can to the cessation of smoking and cut down the nicotine dosage gradually. Let me tell you, this thing rocks. I bought 3 different dosages of cartridges high, medium and practically none which will take about 6 months to complete. This thing is amazing... actually has computer components, real smoke(water vapor) and I can't tell the difference if I'm smoking a real cig or not. I hope this does the trick. So far, I'm satisfied... Still getting the nicotine without the dangerous chems and carcinogens and can actually smoke indoors... I bought the Marlboro flavor and am going to go all the way with this one. Been smoking since 12y.o.... I'm 50.... My only chance at making this work as I've tried EVERYTHING.. even the prescription which made me sick as a freakin' dog! I'll let you die-hard smokers know how I feel in a week! I'm gonna save soop much money on cigs and no more smoke breath or everything else that comes with smoking!

Cool, Crip. Never heard of it before. What's it cost? Where did you find it?

It's advertised all over the radio and TV and even CNN did a report on it.. It is causing troubles though as it still can have as much nicotine as a real butt and it actually comes in a million flavors which is very attractive to kids. I just picked plain ole boring Marlboro because that'll make it real. Some peeps only buy the high concentrate nicotine Liquid bottles which completely defeats the purpose.. I bought 3 ($25.00 each but got one for free) eachLiquid bottle is about 5 cartons of cigs! I got enough for a year and it also comes with 3 free cartridges! (each cartridge is about 5 packs of cigs) If you don't buy the extra Liquid bottles, it's about 80 bucks! What's most amazing is a nice thick, harmless "vapor" like smoke comes out and it really does mimic the real thing! Lotsa coverage on this lately and FDA refuses to approve it because it entices a lot of people who wouldn't consider smoking in the first place because th flavors are awesome: Maple Syrup, Chocolate, Peppermint, Blueberry, etc.... so you can see how this would attract kids...

Do stores sell it, or did you hafta get it o/l? How is it being sold if the FDA hasn't approved it?

I want a maple-blueberry Marlboro.

I dunno but you can get it online or in any mall... Somehow they got around the FDA approval by getting around the advertising factor.. :?:

Thanks, Crip. It took me almost a year to cut back to a single pack a day. I KNOW it affects me singing voice a lot, not to mention the constant battles every year with bronchitis, the occasional pneumonia, headaches are prolly due in large part to smoking too...yeah, it's time to reevaluate my vices.

I was thinking about taking that Chantix stuff they advertise, until I discovered it's one of them "brain drugs" like Zoloft. Won't touch man-made brain drugs with a 19 foot pole. My dentist was REALLY pushing it, though, telling me that they give you erotical dreams & such...like I need that or something...she's prolly just offended by my ciggy breath...

So...I'm dying to know...does it REALLY taste like a Marlboro? I love them cowboy killers!

Sounds like a great idea. Maybe bars and restaurants that don't allow smoking should allow people to smoke these. This company could make a fortune giving free samples to smokers who go into non-smoking venues...

I smoked for about 12 years and have now been a non-smoker for over 20. I had strep throat and pnumonia at the same time and could barely breathe, much less smoke, for 2-3 weeks. When I got better and went back to work I automatically bought a pack of smokes and a new lighter and when it was time to take a break, I went outside and looked at the cigarette and the light and new it would be in the top 4 dumbest things I would ever do. I threw them all over the balcony railing and have never looked back.

That being said, I do enjoy the occasional cigar and a hit or two of what have you.

I started smoking when I was 11

Well, really I started in the womb.. both parents smoked- even in the car, my dad smoked with the windows up.

so I smoked for the next 28 years. Tried quitting a few times and never made it more than a couple of days.

This last time, It became as much a money factor as anything else... they just keep taxing them up and up and away, cigs hit $50 a carton for the CHEAP ones.. eesh

So we couldn't afford it anymore. Got the patches and just quit.

It's been 5 months.

I gained 30 pounds, and now have some health issues from the weight gain. Jeez, can't win, but my lungs feel better.

I can relate, Kramer. I remember as a child being told that I was a "crybaby" for complaining about the smoke in the car on long drives. My dad evidently thought that the lil wing vent was good enough to take all the offensive smoke out of the car, & I wasn't even allowed to crack my own window, I remember a few trips where I wrapped my jacket around my face to filter out the offensive smoke...(of course I grew up to be a huge smoker, & when I was caught innumerable times at ages 12-18, I was punished biggly for it...LOL)

As Thomas Jefferson said, tobacco is the toughest addiction I ever hope to crack. He, too, had big prob's with it, & just imagine - he didn't even have the extra nicotine that tobacco co's put into the weed like we do, today! So it's prolly even tougher for us than it was for him.

Good luck with quitting Crip. I quit cold turkey when my wife found out she was pregnent with our daughter, but I know a lot of people that tried and couldn't just stop smoking. I've heard of this e-cigarette thing before, and I really hope that works well for you. :)
