The more I thought about your idea the more opportunity I see.
The basic idea of a coalition of trusted and competent referral is better than being on "THE LIST" for home depot or lowes.
You have to think about what happens when people start to trust you that much. In this case it would be your coalition.
When you go in and do very competent work, people remember that. Then they start to ask if you know any good tile person, or electrician, etc

Think about the average person that shops at lowes. they are trying to save.that is their goal. I don't like lowes and I would never buy electrical parts from home depot. Black pipe fittings made in china won't even pass plumbing inspection they have to say ward or made in usa ,in some cases.

Now imagine,, I just had you over and you did a great job,you were a great representative of your group, you steered me to better products that may have cost a bit more,[sometimes not] but you gave me better value. A month later this same customer needs trim work done. Since you did such a good job ,your coalition gets a call and your master trim guy gets in on the job.

The thing here is to get people to respond to your TRADE MARK as a whole.
When someone calls PHILBYS HOME ACTION TEAM, a team of carpenters ,roofers , pavers, landscapers, electricians, plumbers ,ac and whatever you or whomever you select,,,,This is the company you call for trusted and valued services..... Not lowes or home depot, and some of the funniest stuff I have seen has come from sears. If you kept this at just that personal enough level people would see the wisdom in calling your company instead.

Sorry Philby ,I just thought you have a GREAT IDEA

Thanks, Glen. Now if only I can convince the local repairmen & handymen etc of my idea, & get some of them to join up without stealing my ideas, I'll be good to go, eh?

I dunno that it's really anything new, though...it's just a cooperative of workers...with my luck I'll prolly end up manning the phones for minimum wage & no bennies... :?
