Because of the price tag on anything that says "Studio".

I imagine that they think that if you can drop that kind of money on a mike, the rest of the gear is a piece of cake.

You can get a monitor that sounds great for a moderate amount of money. But if you tack "Studio" onto a box containing the same components, all of a sudden it's worth 10 times the price.

Suppose it is like artist endorsed signed guitars?

I've been reading up on this a lot of course. It's like 'Sunday Lunch' out there. Yes if you have the best equipment money can buy then you'll fare as well as you can do.

Trouble arises when "as you can do" gets in the way of writing by way of listing what you did it with? Sometimes that gets in the way to my thinking. Does it matter what you did it with or is it the consequence of less in the way of recording quality? Does recording quality even matter on a good song?
