What was your favorite album released in 2009? Preferably one that you actually laid out cash for. I'll go with Depeche Mode's "Sounds of the Universe" or Morrissey's "Years of Refusal".

I only picked up a few singles. The last album I paid cash for was the Eagles new double in 2007.

I bought several albums this year (some were released a few years ago though).

Picked up Creed's new album last week - there's a few songs on there I really love.

But album of the year is easy: Dream Theater's 'Black Clouds and Silver Linings' was great. 'The Count of Tuscany' is one of the best songs they're written. 'Whither' and 'The Best of Times' were pretty good too; I love Petrucci's solo at the end of 'The Best of Times'. I love that they keep writing great stuff after all these years.

I also loved Imogen Heap's 'Ellipse' album. I played the sh*t out of "First Train Home'. I had to go back and get everything she's done, including her work with Frou Frou.

Mattias "IA" Eklundh's Freak Kitchen: Land of Freaks. Awesome shred album.

Wilson Picketts "The Wicked Pickett" and Etta James "The Essentials of Etta James"

I always go back to the oldies when all the new music on the radio blows, which is most of the time hehe
