I was at my drummer's house rehearsing when his mom came and told us John Lennon had been shot. It sure doesn't seem that long ago.

I remember that... I didn't play with my legos OR tonka truck all day that day... then I went on with my life (jk).

"No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today..."
I imagine religion is the only thing that keeps a large number of savages on earth from simply killing for pleasure... but who knows how many it keeps from killing vs how many it drives to it... no I.

"Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace..."
fallacy: we have always found new reasons to kill and die... those reasons would only change. I guess I see what john was going for... I just don't see any 'answers' being provided.

"Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can"
this from a man who at the time had more capacity for possessions than half the earth... and yet he didn't give every penny he made to charity... don't bother telling me he gave a lot - I know he did... but I believe the old saying "to give when you have everything is great... but to give when you have nothing is divine" applies here. not saying he's bad, nor I am better, just that he seems so condescending by wondering if I can...

note that I absolutely love the beatles. Think they are one of the most musical gathering of four musicians ever... but I still can't help but feel like they are completely undeserving of the 'changed the world' like awe they receive... (more john than paul) - they wrote songs...

I know that's not a popular view... but that has never stopped me before.
try and keep in mind this is just one arrogant a-holes perspective.

So we're supposed to literally do everything that we write about in songs, poems, short stories and novels? We're supposed to only write about the things we truly believe and actually flesh out the words with actions? Steven King has a lot of killing to do.

no, we can't expect that much from anyone...

but falling short of that we are undeserving of a 'changed the world' awe.
that's all.

john was a great guy as great guys go... no question about it... just can't help but feel people often give him too much credit (beyond writing music).

he was no ghandi...

They may not have changed the world, but they sure changed MY world. Thay also went a long way toward changing the way ppl looked at music & musicians, at least for a time.

That day was a shock to me.
