Hey, I'm in the milford area(milford commons) looking to start a band, would like to do mostly originals and just want to do this for fun, if it works out, then great, if not no big deal. Contact me if you are interested and want to jam and see how it turns out. I'm off most weekends and nights. Hit me up and check out my profile songs

Back in ancient times, when I was almost 16 years old, a grown up (18 yrs old) bass player needed to replace his Vietnam bound organ player. Having heard that I could play Alen Price's organ solo from House of the Rising Sun note for note, and that I almost had enough money saved up top buy a new Farfisa Combo Compact, he came to me at the diner wher I worked washin' dishes pat time, and asked me if I knew any chord progressions. I replied that I truely didn't know what a chord progression was , let alone know any.

No matter! In a few weeks I was playing in a real band "The Lost Minds" at Mount Airy Lodge making enough bread to score the organ and a used Super Reverb to play it through!

Those were good days.

Nowadays, there are so many great players competing for gigs, that all the previous advice is valid. In other words, you have to be more proficient on your instrument then I was on mine to get in any serious working band.

If you have leadership skills and a bit of business smarts, you might consider forming your own band. You may have to pick up a PA since most singers are to cheap to buy one. A premium Bandmix account wouldn't hurt either.

good luck,
Howlin'

Practice, we "real" musicians like to think of ourselves teh most important aspect of a band but we are not. It is the percussionist who is in charge...that is, if you are good. THat's why you can't skip a beat...at least not to where it is detectable. You are driving the band if you skip a beat, it makes us nervous...h*ll yeah it does. But believe this "we need you". Ignore the snobs they are not going away and they just might someday be your boss.

In the meantime hit the open mics and meet musicians. see if there is anyone to network with, and I will wager there will be a few. 8) Make it your mission to get with them. If you can't find anyone to "hang" with pull out your records and play with them.Jam with those even if when you do have "humans" to jam with. Get some minus one CDs and play with them. Work hard and you'll get in. Now get to perididling.

Thanks for the information. There are takes of my recent jams on my profile. They are to drumless MP3s . I thought I have a premium acount since I pay for it. Hmmmm Seems I feel the same the old days in school we could always find guys to party and learn songs with. Nowadays evryone wants perfection. I had a guy over from Craigs with blue hair wanted me to sell 50 tickets for the Madison and start a band. Lets be real. Before we even have a band I am asked to sell tickets?? The music scene is weird. Dont get me wrong I have met some talented people but for some reason Girlfriends, alchohol or what ever. I am still practicing every nite looking for more.
