Good creative music comes from applying oneself to the perfection of the craft like any other pursuit. The strange thing about music is the ethereal nature of it, the sheer subtlety that becomes the essence of spirit in motion.
Rhythm, Melody and Harmony are established qualities that make up what is defined as music, however that description falls far short of the true attributes that make up what music aspires to impart.
The performing arts encompasses all the essential ingredients necessary to invoke a spell binding performance on the part of an aspiring musicians. When you go on stage you reveal your inner spirit for the world to witness, you have the power to elevate the audience or otherwise .
A performing band shares the responsibility amongst its members to perform a composition so as to transcend the audience into another space. The sum of the individual parts has a great effect on the whole, accepting there are some amazing solo artists.
Music comes from where ever you will it to come from, the musician will invoke the inspiration befitting its state of mind, either subliminally or with deliberate intent. Inspired music allows us to share those special places the creator has visited and long may it be so.
The audience when suitably transported into the ‘special place’ created by the mediation of the collective musicians, will then energise the audience. When this happens you could say that was a great performance that will be remembered for all time.
