The Other Records Taylor Swift Has Broken

There's been much talk lately about the fact that Taylor Swift just broke the record set by Nickelback for having an album stay on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart the longest time during this decade. Good for her.

Nickelback was hard to beat because their All the Right Reasons had the staying power to remain on the chart for 156 weeks. But Swift's self-titled debut album has now been on it for 157 weeks, so she wins. But I tend to look at things through only country music glasses, so I wanted to know what country album records she beat.

So, according to Billboard, here goes: Shania Twain came the closest to Swift when her 1997 album, Come on Over, was on the chart for 151 weeks. And Carrie Underwood was on for 137 weeks with Some Hearts. And the Dixie Chicks, who I never thought anyone could ever beat, stayed on the charts for 134 weeks with Wide Open Spaces.

Other noncountry albums have enjoyed similar success during this decade. And, of course, Pink Floyd's 1973 album, Dark Side of the Moon, holds the all-time record with 741 consecutive weeks on the chart.

Just shows the complete lackluster condition of music today.

It's another sign of Arggamemnon.

"And lo, when the masses accept the incredibly average and call it great, the fourth bowl will be lit and passed between them..." (Reservations 6:16)

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the evil bland, the sounds pierce my ears, and the lack of substance will be celebrated in a hearty fashion." (Irrelevations 23:12)

She's a genuinely nice person, and lived only a few miles away from me - I tend to throw support at local musicians :) We've had a few folks from our region make it in recent years - from Breaking Benjamin to T.S., to Fuel - So It makes me happy to see that anything is possible from where I'm at-

And Ryan... CLASSIC LOL. that will never ever get old!

Kayne is such a friggin tool.

LMAO @ Phil!!!

Kramer,

I love Fuel. I'll do their stuff at Karaoke when people drag me out.

Remember when they were trying to get the douche-bag from American Idol to front them? Daughtry? He wasn't a douche bag then (at least no one knew what a douch bag he was)

Did they ever get a replacement?

LMAO!

I just happen to know he is a MAJOR douche-bag in real life. I got my old band interviewed on a college radio station in Chattanooga, and they played 5 of our studio songs, and interviewed us in between songs. When we were off-mic he was telling us how Daughtry had worn out his welcome in that town. Everyone there was looking forward to him coming there, and when he did... he tried to get them to pay him more money that already agreed upon, and he didn't want to honor the agreed upon tickets given to promotional events to come see him. He was an asshole to everyone, and treated the community like sh*t. That's all they talked about in Chattanooga for weeks... what an ASSHOLE Daughtry is.

You can't treat your fan base like that.
