in my own personal opinion... it takes much more tact to keep it cordial and biotchslap someone while all the while sounding thoughtful and engaged in the conversation...

either way I think we were all entertained by davis and runcers and some good points were made that might otherwise have gone uncovered. both parties got some shots in and perhaps even persuaded the other in some small way... FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- I hear you pal; that's one of the reasons I avoid bars. I lost my temper a few times, and twice it took a crowd to keep me from killing someone . . .
It took me about 25 years, but now I've learned to be polite and keep my temper.
When I was a child I avoided fights because I might lose.
Then later, I got much 'better,' but then I learned that it's more important to avoid a fight because you can WIN . . . and go to jail.
I have a pretty long fuse, now . . .

I'm 6'2 250 and grew up with a drill sgt dad. When I was 15 he'd make me and my brother box with 16oz gloves. My brother learned akido and we wrestle/fight all the time. I even win sometimes... one time I did a split finger on him... he still hasn't forgotten that one... but he had it comin' cause he jammed my right middle finger and it has been krooked ever since...

But neither of them (my bro or dad) can ever beat my mouth... they don't even try anymore.

That's EXACTLY what I was going to say after reading Samic's post. I don't understand the want for physical fighting - it's so basic and instinctual. And it seems to me the whole purpose of being human is to fight instinct and remain civilized. And it just looks stupid when you think about it - two people with clenched fists beating on each other... it's pretty animal-esque if you ask me. I hardly go to bars but when I do it's funny to watch a bunch of drunk, testosterone laden, macho idiots start fights for any dumb reason they can find. If marijuana were legal and alcohol illegal then bars would be full of people laughing and getting along haha.

Davis: legalization is the last thing you want, cause ten seconds later they will be devising a breathalizer for it, pulling ppul over and fining them $2gs for driving under its influence, and then sending you to a class to rehabilitate your a$$.
I don't think it makes ppul get along so well either. No more so than drinking makes ppul fight... if it wasn't in the person in the first place no amount of anything is gonna bring it out...
SIDENOTE:apparently I have a lot of sleeping in me cause that's all that comes out of me when I drink!

I used to play years ago for a bunch of Hell's Angels. A biotchslap on one of those guys doesn't get their attention. You have to take them out, then they leave you alone. I'm actually a very peaceful person, and the bands I play in never have any trouble pleasing everybody. One of our band members was an eighth degree blackbelt in karate, needless to say a biotchslap might get us in trouble with the local authorities. Later...

yea, don't mess with the hells angels, eigth street rollers, latin kings, magnetos, or any other outlaw gang for that matter.

Then again, I usually try to save my argumentitive disposition for ppul who actually have the capacity to recognize when they are winning and when they are losing. I'm tempted to point out my doubt as to how many legitimately bright minds decide to opt for a life of gang crime instead of a wealthy career in the science of their choice... but I'm sure there are exceptions to that rule all over the place.

Not to mention the obvious fact that I doubt many serious gangs would be a willing audience to my particular flavor of blues music... a music that would likely never place me at a biker bar... at least it never has yet... and I'm from milwaukee wi - ie -whole lotta bikers here! I generally would steer away from 'that kind of venue' out of fear for it's audience, but then again: I don't make my living as a performing musician anymore and I am torn between feeling genuinely sorry for anyone that does vs having a deep respect for anyone who is that committed to their art.
I'm guessing as a working musician tho... one ought not biotchslap their regular audience unless they are like bob dylan and can afford to do so. I've said it b4 and I'll say it again: "we only quarrel with the ones we like enough to do so with. The rest of em aren't worth the loss it might entail."

EVERYBODY HAS TO START SOMEWHERE - BUT THAT SOMEWHERE SHOULD BE AS FAR AWAY FROM A STAGE OR STUDIO AS POSSIBLE.

PRACTICE IN YOUR BASEMENT - PERFORM ON THE STAGE - GO PRO IN THE STUDIO.
