I think Cubase SX or SE programs would best benefit your needs. We purchased our Cubase SE3 for the studio under $100 and it features 32-bit/24 bit recording quality. Along with a USB interface (from m-audio $99) and/or a USB mixer, you can run multitudes of tracks simultaneously. The best thing about platform based recording versus stand-alone digital recorders is that the tracks from platform based can 100% edited and transfered. Cubase has the widest range of "plug-ins" for effects and instrumentation. This can cut down your production time in half to free you up with more creative stuff.

With guitar rig 2 and the pedal board, you can hook up mic and guitar to record via the laptop and cakewalk sonar.

No other interface is used.. The pedal board has a mic hook up, a guitar hook up and a bass hook up.

Scott I have Guitar Rig, sadly no pedal however. I was juiced by some flippant on line place I won't mention. I've seen the Youtube tutorials on the whole deal and am really impressed.

Tell me please.

Would you consider using this live or just for recording? I'm almost certainly going to use VST for Keys.

Any draw backs that you can see having used it?
Thanks.

Chippy.

I am using it live with mixed feelings.

I do admit, one has to go through and program/micro-manage the thing from end to end. THEN it sounds like it should.

It is not RTR, by any means. It's gitchy to me.

The pedal board houses a sound card that eliminates latency..
I'd get one off of ebay, FOR SURE.

Otherwise, I am not as comfortable with it as I could be.
I am still inclined to go and get a good fuzz face/octavia/univibe and expression pedal to use live. It seems easier to manipulate on the run and I don't need my laptop unless I am trying to record the session.

Drawbacks? It's just a little steeper of a learning curve than I like, to manipulate IT smoothly and deftly. (I'm still learning how to fully use it and it pisses me off.)

Thanks Scott.
It's just that I saw so many Youtube things on this and I wondered. Guess I need 20,000 pedals LOL!

I will tell you this Scott. You music posted had me humming it all day long.

You should look into that because I don't usually like everything. As you know I'm not a big Beatles fan but your track up there now should get you going again.

Are you writing now? Thanks for the reply.

Noo, my laptop is not cooperating and scheduled for a reload.

It's just I have a lot of software to stick back on it and it seems an arduous task.

And I am in the middle of changing keyboardists, because the other fellow is keybored. lol So I am in a holding pattern for now, until I can see how the landscape will turn out.

Besides we're getting ready to start abusing "Love Me To" and "Tomorrow Never Knows/ Within you, Without you".

That should be enough to give people motion sickness, if we're lucky. lol

Please remain in your seat until the bomb drops, I mean, the spaceship lands.

Hey if you need help with the comp stuff Scott? I'd be happy to help in any way I can? I'm trying Linux and have to bow down to people who know much more than me, but I learn.

In short....
You are a member here. Drop me a line and I'll sort out what I can, (NO promises).

Thanks for the input. I'll drown Guitar rig in the bath tonight.
Thanks!
