When the third largest chicken processor in the U.S., Perdue Chicken Co., began expanding into Spanish speaking countries, they carried their slogan, "It takes a tough man to make a chicken tender" with them. After a Spanish translation however, it stated "It takes a hard man (sexually aroused) to make a chick affectionate."

I imagine some idiot marketing dweeb at Perdue Chicken got out a Spanish-English translation book and put out the slogan without refering to anybody who actually speaks Spanish. It would REALLY have been funny if they did some television commercials with that translation. Talk about laughing your ass off...

Cocoa Cola had a similar problem, in China.
One of their products (I forgot which one), - in Chinese - meant "Bite the wax tadpole."

That's funny, there was a band in the Kansas City area years ago called the Waxed Tadpoles, I think they might have been a blues band. I think they relocated to Lake of the Ozarks. I was thinking about naming my band back then the Polished Pollywogs to compete with them. Haven't heard of the Waxed Tadpoles in many years, might be long defunct.

Along simular lines. My Mother and Father traveled to Brazil years agoon one of their anniversarys.
The went to stay with my Brazillian sisters parents.
Mom nor Dad speak Portugese, and mom was flashing the OK signal everywhere as she said yes to questions, ordering food or drinks etc.
Apparently in South America, the OK signal means kiss my ass.
Fortunatly Maria was there to smooth the ruffled feathers.

lol That's like when I was in London.

I was flashing people the peace sign. (you know the V with 2 fingers)

Until my buddy told me that it's an obscene gesture.

You flash the V, curled fingers to you (like flipping and you say "Up your bugger"..lol

He said I was basically giving people the finger.

Aw hail...I like it best when ppl can't even use American right after they lived here all their lives.

A local commercial for hair weaves used to brag that their service would "take YEARS off your life!"

I'll bet they had ppl flocking to their lil hair saloon! (heh heh heh)

The V signature dates back to a time where the English cut off the two fingers used by French Archers when they were caught so they could not use their bows again
