One thing I have learned from these debates is the choice of wording we use often either fans the flames or snuffs them. I chose to use specific words to fire craig up in the beginning of this debate in the other forum, then when I saw that it was not going to go well in a heated debate, I brought the temperature down by acknowleging some valid points from the other side. These forums only get as heated as we choose them to get.

Right. And that's not the fault of the issue or of debates themselves. The participants have to agree to be civil. Like you and I Mike, we toned it down after awhile, but part of it was that we began to respect each other a little more. And found some common ground.

That is one thing that my sacred marker always does for me...in all my personal face to face debates, its always marijuana that keeps the tone civil, it gives me an advantage in the debate, I don't have to think, I just channel "god" to do the talking, but I'm often told I am very insightful, though sometimes, I am left with only vague memory of what I actually said, so forums have that advantage to look back. And I often have to re-read my own posts cause I sometimes go into a trance when writing.

There is a reason that one of the oldest street slangs for marijuana is "peace pipe"

and anyone who has ever debated while smoking knows that you don't really get high when you are in deep thought, you get insight.

where's one patriot's opinion

I see that we are bickering amongst ourselves to gain support for rally.

Heres the truth:
Those who do not want to be a part of the rally wont be.

AND getting us to fight amongst ourselves is not unifying ourselves against a corrupt and power hungry government.
Its true that in a fight, either get on the frontline or carry ammo for those you are. If you not helping or fighting, your either a bystandard or against us. And bystandards have a pretty bad time in a fight if you recall basic war infos.

What we need to establish is that:
Yes we have a run away govenment who lies about our debt which now has reached over 15 trillion dollars (9 trillion to china alone)
Yes we have a government that is scared of its own people, and if the 20th century tuaght us anything about a scared gov, its taht the results are bad. (Mao, Hitler, Japan, Cuba, Russia etc.) Their own governments killed more of themselves then both Wolrd Wars did combine. They were just people too, just like us, thrown into a crazy situation like we are.

No, Fighting amongst ourselves is not the answer. Dont allow the media to tell you what to think and feel. We are a country united if we want. Im sick of hearing that we are divided.

What my message is to everyone is be ready for the worse, hope it doesnt happen, but make sure you can protect not only yourselves, but the ones you love and the ones you may encounter that could use your help.

Craig and philbymon, you need to see that you ARE on the same side of a much bigger issue than fighting amongst eachother. remember: the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Shredd6 wrote:Mike, I really wasn't trying to patronize you. All this time I read the V at the end of your name as a Y. It has always looked like "Mistermikey" to me. I do apologise for that. I don't know why that was the case, maybe the font used or something.

It's obvious that we see differently on the subject. But I did make it a point not to call you any names, and I wasn't trying to do that as an alternative.

I do want to say this though. As a woodworker, I'm sure I do come across as self absorbed and egotistical. But the job of a GM when the owners don't have ground floor experience in the business IS to run the place. The job IS that impactful. Lose a good GM and you can very easily lose your business. In both cases where I was a GM and the businesses folded after being let go, the owners were the investors, and hired a GM to run the operation. And in both cases they became "Al Davis" and decided that they all of the sudden knew better. And in a weird analogy, became the Oakland Raiders of what we see today (only worse, at least the Raiders are still in existence). Just because someone is an owner of a business, doesn't necessarily mean they know how to run their operation. And even some of the best woodworkers don't make good GMs.

no prob on the mikey thing... turns out others are calling me that too... perhaps I was a bit sensitive about it. i enjoyed our debate and am certain that we both are influenced by each others words... I'lll come a little your way and you come a little my way and we'll meet in the middle.

afa working for owners who don't know jack but think they do: I can def relate to that... I think I can speak for everyone when I say - we all have.

cheers.
