I've seen lots of grass. But blue escapes me.
I guess I have not heard enough to understand the genre'.
That what I have heard sounded more like highbrow country to me.
So, what is bluegrass?

Bluegrass is folk music. It came from the Irish settlers in the 19th century. It uses mostly traditional instruments such as the fiddle, banjo, jug, spoons, guitar, stand up or washboard bass, mandolin, & no drums, as a rule. It's simple music, 3 chord stuff, & most often it is played in all major chords, no minors. It developed in the Appalacian mountain areas with coal miners, at the start of it all, as I recall.

In traditional bluegrass, you can really hear the Celtic roots.

I have no idea where the term "bluegrass" came from. Makes you think of Kentucky, doesn't it? Bluegrass MUSIC doesn't come from there, though...

One of the local venues we played once, sponsors bluegrass music.
I have tried twice to make it over there to check it out, but life interferes.
Perhaps one day I will.
