Last night I played at the Taubman museum of art in beautiful downtown Roanoke. I played for 3 1/2 hours  with 2 - 5 minute breaks. It was an outdoor cafe. I'm my own worst critic and I am tickled with the performance. My voice held up to the marathon and I was pushing it the whole time. All the gear held up too. I sold $80 in merch and got paid $150 by the museum. My brother in law took pics. I'll post them soon. It was pretty packed too. Maybe 150 - 200. Touring has really tightened up my live act. I am still floating! 8) I got tons of feedback and was asked to come back. Man I love performing live :D

Awesome... Now you know why I basically do covers.. I love doing live gigs... just excites the hell outta me... I've got 2 awesome gigs in a row at the end of July... back to back w/ 2 different bands and I've got a very busy and popular club band coming to check me out at one of those gigs as they are in need a a wailing guitarist who can also give a show onstage... if they like me, I'll be gigging 3 weekends a month... :D

Congrats Paul, you earned it my man. Keep the shows going and before long you'll have more demand than you can meet.
Perhaps then you can give your sweetie a little break.

Sweet, sounds like a blast. Nothing better than earning money for something you love to do.

That's awesome. Being a solo act you have nobody else to blame for your success!

Thanks friends! A guy who worked at the museum came up to me after the show and said. "You guys sounded good". He had heard me while working but not seen me. I smiled and said "It was just me". He did a double take and said "Oh, like Keller Williams" DUDE! That is so satisfying. He gave me a compliment AND an unintended compliment at the same time. :D

Crip, I played half originals and half covers. I got more responses to my originals. 8)

A couple of weeks ago I posted a thread about a new song that "wrote itself" and how happy I was with it. Man the place exploded when I finished that one. It was at the beginning of the third set. I had never played it out. Nobody there had ever heard it. It's a really emotional song and I caught one girl with her face all winced up on a particularly gripping moment in the song. Man, that got to me deeply. I actually teared up a tiny bit. That was one of those moments I'll not soon forget.

I could do this 4 or 5 days a week. I want to use my God given talents to pay for my daughters. I need to. I'm at a point I need management. Booking is the only thing I hate doing. I love driving. I have all my gear. I love playing all the instruments and being the only musician/singer. I even like lugging all my gear and setting it all up. I'm just at the door of the next step. I need a manager who I CAN TRUST.

Can't wait to shake the hands of Fisherman Bob and Crip2nite!!! I got to meet Jimmy Danger, JW123, and Sansouheil. All 3 great guys. I feel fortunate to know you guys. Bandmix forum ROCKS!! I really get a lot out of sharing with and learning from my peers.

Glad the gig went well for you and glad people are responding to your originals. Gives me hope for this world after all. :) Hey, I might be giving you some competition soon. Just got a Boss ME-70 multieffects and it has a 38 second loop feature with multi overdubs. Actually, I've had the pedal for a few weeks and was programming some more sounds in it today and just played around with the loop feature. It's pretty cool. I'll probably just be using it for certain jam out songs. (I was just kidding about the competition thing, not my cup o' tea). :)

cool man! 38 seconds is plenty of loop time. Mine are usually 8 - 20 seconds. Post vids! Looping is so gratifying!

Paul, that is AWESOME!

You were born for this brother!

And... I love it when the "song writes itself"

Those are usually the best kind to me, cause it is like being in the zone for a ball player, it is almost pure inspiration just flowing without thinking too much about it.

I'm really thrilled for you!

Man thanks! Those are the best songs to me too. Great analogy about the ball player in the zone. Very accurate. I've been praying everyday for a while now... "Just let me use my talents you gave me to pay for my babies you gave me."
