First, our band seems to be coming together better. Our new guitarist keeps coming back for more, hopefully that'll continue. A very fine sax player is interested in checking us out (another Bandmix member the soaring saxman), as well as a harmonica/lead vocalist. We're not that far from hitting some jam sessions. Second, my father is making good progress. He could actually be going home within the month. He's starting to eat real food and is due to get off the antibiotics real soon. Third, I get e-mails fron the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife and the United States' duck population went UP an estimated 13% last year. (I didn't see too many in Florida though). That's probably about the best news I've seen in a while. I've also noticed here in Kansas in the lakes I fish there seems to be more turtles than in the previous few years. I'm even hearing some bullfrogs. I've even seen some more honey bees around. Maybe we're not doomed after all....

'Tis a major "woo-hoo" for sure, bob, on all 3 counts.

Hope all keeps getting better...

Yes Bob, that is good news!
I have to ask though, do people hunt Ducks in Kansas?
I know that sounds like a stupid question, but normally when one thinks Ducks it's Arkansas Louisiana, the eastern seaboard, and the gulf coast of Texas.
We lost the availability to hunt Elk in Colorado. The rich boy from California and his anti-hunting wife, whom told my cousin that if he would sell them his share he could hunt for life. Humm, they leased it to an outfitter.
My 83 year old dad wants to make "one more duck hunt" I would like to make it as memorable as possible.

Fisherman.

Thats one heck of a bundle of good news for you. Glad your Dad is pulling through and the news of bees is awesome news too. I'm seeing a few here again lately after a barren year last year.

Keep well.

Chippy.

A hillbilly was duck hunting in Oklahoma. A game warden who hated hillbillies spotted him and decided to check his duck license. He went up to the hillbilly and asked "Mind if I inspect your ducks?" "Sure said the hillbilly." He picked up the first duck and sniffed its ass and said "this duck's not from Oklahoma, it's from Kansas. Do you have a Kansas duck hunting license?" The hillbilly reached into a pocket and pulled out a Kansas duck hunting license. The game warden then picked up another duck, sniffed its ass and said "Hey this duck's from Arkansas, do you have your Arkansas license. The hillbilly reached into another pocket and pulled out his Arkansas license. The game warden picked up another duck and sniffed its butt "This duck's from Missouri, you got your Missouri duck hunting license?" The hillbilly had one and then the game warden asked "Hey hillbilly where are you from anyway?" The hillbilly pulled down his pants, pointed to his butt and said "You tell me where I'm from."
There's a lot of duck hunting in Kansas. I did a bunch of work at a duck hunting club in Linn County (two counties south of me). This place was posh. One of its members was Tom Watson the famous golfer.

Posh is way beyond my reach or comprehension.
For me posh is being surrounded by nature, and maybe some real toilet paper, just in case.
