I am not really sure what genre of music you are looking for but there are a ton of classical piano and guitar duets, there is also a beautiful version of Starry Night with piano and guitar, Let Me Fall, Gira Con Me, Never Saw Blue. I have a list, but instead of typing it all out, why don't you left me know what you are looking for exactly. :D

All of the above mentioned were originally or have been played acoustically. My Immortal by Evanescence also comes to mind. Sorry, I am really not familiar with those other artists that you mentioned. Twila Paris did a whole album of piano and acoustic guitar duets, but that is a pretty limited genre of music. David Lanz and early John Tesh are also good to look into.

Check out Liquid Tension Experiment's "State of Grace". It's a very beautiful piece of music. There's also a live version on "An Evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess" (as well as other guitar/keyboard songs).

look into Renaissance I don't think they had a guitar...but you if you can come up with a line it could be really good, ELP's take a pebble really wants guitar in some parts, I'm not overly familiar with the Dead, or Phish but I'm sure they've got songs that you should look into

Any song can be done with those 2 instruments!

Yeah - why do you think you have to do a guitar/piano duet that someone else has already done?
.
If you like a song - then do it . . .

Elton John has some great songs that would really come off well in a piano/guitar duet, but they can get pretty involved and will take some time to learn.

say Madman Across The Water for instance: the guitar could loosely cover the bass line.
also Levon / Daniel

Yea, Daniel has quite simple chords minus the 10 second intro. Almost like Rocketman.

Ray Charles has some really cool tunes.
I hate to see this one get burned out because it's the only cover I do but...
"Hurt" (maybe the Trent Resnor or your own version for you guys)
