It's not like an 80s influence is bad. And he doesn't sound like the sleazy bands. Just good stuff and Sabbath-ish tones.
Anyways. Good start. Don't force the inspiration, if it's not coming out on its own.
I go months without writing anything, and then write a buncha stuff. Write down riff ideas for later. I kinda hate it when I get an idea and I don't have a means to store it and my memory fails me ofcourse.
Back on track.. it's a sad intro, so maybe you're going in a ballad direction? Dunno.

All good advice everyone! Thanx! And good encouragement too. I'll keep at it and if its a sad ballad or 80s retro I'll just have to wait and see.. I dont know yet. I hadnt even really mixed that intro yet. I may give that keyboard a more rocker sound .. or something..
My main problem is writing lyrics, I really suck at it. All my songs usually come out - baby, yeah, baby yeah, yeah, party- party, yah yah all night long .. ugh..

Breath deeply the fresh air outdoors and seperate yourself from the clock for a week. Be outdoors with nothing but you and the natural world (or as close as you can get safely) A type of solitary confinement that requires considerable daily pysical efforts. No alarm, no radio, no TV, an occasional call to the family to put your soul at ease.
A new perspective will arise.

Wow, that's deep and profound, Sans. I dont know if I have the mental disciplines to pull that off.. sounds good though , and being in my present 'in-between-jobs-just-got-laid-off-after12 years' status and living way out in the stix I could attempt that, but right now it's 36 degrees outside and we just got thru loading straw into the dog-house/ spring-house and my fingers are numb (It's kinda windy) - I do like the sound of freeing your soul to gain a new perspective on life though..

80s sound.. meh.. I would have thought that the de-tuned bass would at least have brought it up to the early '00s - lol-
