Damn I think Mike topped us all with that stage they were on. Thats a killer gig site.
Craig, yea that one picture with the guitar is a magazine shot. That girl goes back almost 20 yrs with our group. She and 3 or 4 others used to always dance in front of me. They didnt get a lot of crowd shots of me, cause our singer Kevin is even more mobile than I am. I go out and sit in gals laps, just anything. But our bassist Andy topped all of us sat night. I looked over and he was gone, playing but gone. He doesnt run around quite as much as I do. Well he comes walking back in the side door. He stepped out to take a pee and never quit playing. I didnt help him pack his bass after the show.
Craig looks like you guys are doing great and moving up the ladder. Weve got a couple of booking agencys talking to us and some other stuff going, in fact right now Im turning down more gigs than Im taking. I dont like that but we can only do so much with all of us working full time, and hey I dont want to be a rock star, just act like one on my terms.
We have this idea for a documentary of the band, I just dont want to look stupid. We brought in a gal to film us, who has done a lot of music videos around Memphis. She made me happy cause she said she thought it would be another boring group, but said she had the time of her life and wants a couple of us to take her partying out in our world of honky tonks.
Next week a wedding reception, then the week after a big club in Jackson TN, we have a friend band opening then us for a couple of hours and then another band that plays Southern Rock behind us. I feel sorry for them cause AYM doesnt like to open for nobody. We get paid the same either way, but one of the owners had promised this other group the headline slot.
We are averaging around $800 a weekend, I hope after the first of the year or spring to move into the $1000 set price. Weve done well with playing for the door and the buzz is building. I was listening to the radio last night and they were interviewing a friend band and they kept talking about us and how awesome we were. Thats kinda humbling, that we are some kind of influence on another generation of rockers.
