I need some advise! I dont want to screw myself "or" blow a deal. I just got a phone message w/an offer of a deal for publishing and production for talent and one of my song's. I don't have a clue of what to expect or ask for! if any of you have had a publishing/production deal, any advise at all on anything to do w/it would be greatly appreciated!

Well I would suggest letting your fingers do the walking, and contacting a attorney that specializes in entertainment.
If you are pressed for time... maybe say yes -- then call a lawyer, go over the basics with him/her and have the lawyer attend any meeting where you have to sign papers, etc.

turns out they want $99 for this and $49 for that. I dont know shitt, but if they think I'm so "incredible" as they put it, and they have represesnted Johnny Cash, would they think they needed $150 to work w/me? I think this contract may be 10 pages of shitt!

Hayden,

Not all labels give signing bonuses, however, one thing remains true. If they really want to make you a star, they foot the bill. If they ask you for money, its a scam. Walk away.

ok first thing to do is check to make suree app publishing is even registered ....then since you cant find them I am sure you can find plenty of information on J.Cash look and see if they are mentioned anywhere with his name attached a quick google should work if not ask for specfics on what they did for him and research that....as for the 150....alot of times artists have to pay but it usuall come out of any sales they are made....and the label / publisher fronts the money for any project....thats why they get such a big cut in the end because they take the risk with the money...be very weary of anyone telling you to pay for something up from no mattter how minimal the cost.....further more what do they want to do ...publish the lyrics...produce a cd....I mean what are they really offereing t odo for you?I once heard about a guy who paid some company 500$ to get his music published.....so they wrote his lyrics out on paper and took out a 1 page add in a local paper for like 150 bucks....and ther you have it...his music was published to the masses....major rip off but hey...they did what they said they would do...my advice....stick to the grind until someone with signing power approaches you ...then contact a lawyer before you say anything to them....if they are legit...1 they will expect to talk to a lawyer...2 will be less likely to BS you when you make a move with a lawyer on your side....and 3 they are willing to wait to do it right ....after all most of the time people with siging power already have moeny you are just there to make them more.....i blog about allofthis by the way....incase your interested :-)

hey thanks Bro! yeah I researched em and found nothing. its obviously a scam! I knew I had a fukn comin when they were blowin me up so much. I had an offer from someone legit and they praised me, but this guy acted like I was the next Niel Young or something and "Incarnate" was the next Stairway To Heaven...
