well, my last gig at trkstop was New Yr Eve....we were off a wk and then the next wkend i missed my first gigs in over 40 yrs of gigging! i actually subbed my gig out to Bill (Pjazz bassman).

but geeeze...i was running at 102 for three days running ...i mean, hey now....i WAS ready to man up until the mrs said "no, way buddy."

by then my "manning up" was pretty much done at that point...and it wasn't like i WANTED to drag my ass 40 miles to do the gigs. but then too.....of course sick i as i was... i DID want to play! i mean is there any BETTER medicine and therapy?

so tonight is my first night back....and i just get a call. the drummer and our front guy were setting up and working out some problems w the drummer's wireless mic....and they went and done learned them a new song we're gonna play tonight... hooo-ah!

"Blue Ain't Your Color" by K. Urban.

Hey, mark if ya got a min......check out the tune cos we're gonna play it later.

luckily it's pretty straight forward. i brought up the video....grabbed my upright that lay close by and played it thru the first time and now have it pretty well squirrelled away in my little brain. i don't think i'll listen to it again and instead just wing it to the best of my recollect.

it does have a cpl of cool moves, rhythms, and changes....there's a nice move going to the Em A7 bit for the gtr solo but it's way too short!

when we play it ...we're sure as $hit gonna be stretching that part out some! it should be a fun tune to play bass (wish i could play my upright there!) and i hear that this is a real popular tune now so i expect they'll be a lot of folks dancing to it.

say....when do i get paid?????? 8)

i've told you before...next time you're in columbia swing by!

it'd be a blast to hear you get up on stage to sit in and play a song like that with the band. :)

yeah...i think that'd be REAL entertaining!
