Mike , I am the unfortunate one to not live closer to New England so I could attend one of your events, but when I am talking about dance music, I am talking more in the line of "If The House Is A Rockin Don't Bother Knocking".. not electro-house music crossover with a repetitive drum beat with emphasis on the bass drum.. :)

I kjnew what you meant about the type of music, Dayne. The house-techno stuff only appeals to the mindless 20-somethings these days.

Aside, did you know that 'If the House..' was recorded with 10 guitar amps all plugged in and miked at the same time? Some were in different rooms. Article about it in the last Tape Op magazine.

nope, did not know that, I do know the most under-rated guitarist in the world (Jimmy Page) used a technique called "distance micing" :) :)

Distance miking - put the recording mike(s) a certain distance away from the amp's speakers, to let the 'air movement' affect the sound picked up, much the way the human ear hears the guitar amp. Glyn Johns' method ... Of course you need a good sounding studio to do that trick well.

Planetguy wrote:ok, straight up i'm gonna give it to you. ( cos that went SO WELL last time!)

dayne, those guys are are pretty damn rough. and then there's you. you had me w the very first time your pick hit the strings! duuude, your tone is killin' and i really dig your feel and choices. you gottit going on man!

i feel bad that if this is really what you wanna do, playing this style of music w players at this level.... and not the hipper and more interesting stuff that we all write and like to do ( and don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong w playing this kind of music... i do it plenty at the truckstop.....but they're all REALLY good players!) ...and again man...you sound GREAT playing there.

what i'm getting at is that i'm surprised you haven't been able to find a dozen bands in your area doing this at this level. i know you were looking for more qualified and more adventurous players playing more adventurous music.

the singer is more than a little pitch challenged, no? and the rest of the band hooks up like three guys in three seperate rooms, or houses, or zip codes! you, on the other hand are admirably steering the ship thru some murky waters...but the singer (as most musicians... whatever their level do... we all gravitate towards the person in the band with the time/groove sense that we can most identify with... and hook up best with) he's signed on to your wagon and singing with YOU.

dayne...you sound great man. and i'd gladly sit by and listen to the rest of those guys to hear you play some more.

so...ya got some more to share?

thanks for the compliment)s..

no more to share, since 60% of the band is now out of it, me included, Bob Stillson and I are in talks about our musical futures, Grant is looking for an established band, but Bob, has connections to a Branson girl vocalist that is supposedly very hot sounding, we are wanting to form a blues band, but country is more marketable.. Bob has talked to Grant, but don't know if we will get together.. I could see Grant, Bob and me playing together , all we would need is a drummer and vocalist, and Bob thinks Ron (the current Jesse Cole James drummer and played on audio page 1 of this thread) might fly the coop if the terms are right.. oh, Jesse Cole James and The Outlaws are playing the Tennessee State Fair, Sept. 10, 2016 and I am looking for a ride to go see them play in front of 13,000 people.. :)
