All I've got are 20 footers. TAny shorter ones are used for patch cords, when needed - pedal to pedal, pedal to amp, or when I'm in the studio because they're handy.
Used to be a lot of people would say you can't use anything longer than a 15 foot cable, or you'd lose some tone, I never bought into that.

20' and sometimes 30' when I was playing in larger venues and trying to coordinate my cats! 8) Have looked at wireless came away thinking it would take some very high end, expensive gear for that to work right.

I did get real frustrated recently and went to Ken Stanton Music and demanded a cable, regardless of price, that didn't get all tangled up!

This kid looked up at me from his stool behind the counter and said, "Later for that dude, hasn't been invented yet!" Sigh...

Mike, I had a wireless for a while... It was GREAT.
My government came along and took over the bandwidth and threatened me with severe penalties for using it.
HHHHMMMMM. You have a government confiscating property for what ? Without compensation. HHHHHHMMMM!
Threatened with severe penalties. That is the part that really is important to understand.

Other than that... Go wireless and life is GREAT!

I use everything. From 6" to 20'.

But I'm not onstage.

Can't we all agree that it's guitar cables?

Not to be confused with guitar chords?

I use twist-ties to tie up my cables, too, like Jook. Not 6" coils, though, that's too small. And the best method to use when coiling is the 'over under' method so twist is a minimum. But they still get tangled up.
The expensive tweed-jacketed cables don't get twisted up anywhere near as much, but they're stiffer and harder to coil.

not a fan of the over under wrap up method, myself. PLANET recently played a big outdoor gig and we got into a conversation w the the sounds guys who supplied sound for the event. these guys are pros. they too aren't fans of over under.

cord length? 90% of the time it's 10 ft for me as most gigs i play these days are on smaller stages. i did use a 20 footer on a pickup gig last wk.

all my instrument cables are cloth wrapped...they do behave better (less kinking) and they are no harder to roll up than non cloth. in fact my cables are all very well behaved and just about wrap themselves once the process is begun.

i tie them off w pipe cleaners. super easy to use. cheap as borscht (a 50 or 100 pk for a buck or two) and i never stress when i lose one.

Small cable cuffs are good too.

They say 18' is best above that and you lose tone. I never did go wireless but am still thinking about it. Everytime I think about it I find another guitar or amp and wind up spending money on that. My latest acquisition a pair of these http://www.zzounds.com/item--JBLPRX715
