heck schmed, if I knew how to get rid of all my personal stuff on my Dell Dimension 2400 which is wrapped up in a garbage sack and put away in the closet with Ableton Live Lite 5.1.1 and Gear Box already installed and ready to record with I would ship you the puter for cost of shipping.. from 65663 to Arizona might be 35 bucks? but I know of no other way to de-personalize a puter other than to smash it to smithereens? I don't want somebody maybe finding something about me that did not get swiped off..

Dayne - sorry, but you are DEAD WRONG regarding Reaper. It is free to download the full uncrippled version. After 30 days a reminder will come up each time you boot it, reminding you that you should register it ($60!)
http://www.reaper.fm/
It is a full-featured DAW, comes with a plethora of plug-ins. There's a 400+ page manual (also free) that takes you through the easy and not-so-easy stuff. Before I downloaded it, I read through the manual to get a better grasp of what it can do - and after 5 years using it, there are still a ton of features I don't use. There is a user forum on the Reaper site which helps when you get stuck, and the guys over at homerecording.com can also assist.

Schmed - as others have already said, it takes less than 5 minutes to set up/put away using a USB interface (or mixer) and headphones and whatever computer you have. Or you can waste more time than that arguing here that you don't have the time or money.

It's all about a state of mind. My household is hostile to the very notion of setting up musical equipment. I can't work around that. On the laptop, yes. Setting up and playing/ recording, no.

I have 2 Behringer USB mixers and was told that the drivers suck. Hmm......
