I just got a whole old time fun blues vibe from this song

That's exactly what I was feeling. A soulful bluesy tune that's playful, flirty and makes people smile. I was imagining something out of an old Harlem juke joint, with a band going off, satchmo on trumpet, and Mike on lead guitar.... people whisper: "Hey, what's the white boy doing in here?" (Mike plays some smokin' blues lead) "Oh... that's what he's doing here! Hell yeah! Get it white boy!" :-)

When you said you may write a song with that, I thought you were kidding.

LOL

The song kind of wrote itself. It's funny how inspiration hits. I had most of this song in my head, just from seeing "It's No Crime". I had the theme... a dude not being able to stop staring at some sultry chick, and she catches him staring, and he basically tells her "I know it ain't right (staring like that) but hell baby, It's no crime!" Kind of a playful justification, and flirting with her at the same time. Also the feel, seeing it as an old school bluesy number. A smokey blues-bar song. All I had to do was put the lyrics to the verses on it, but everything else, seriously, came in an instant.

What I think is cool, is that for weeks and weeks, musically, things were pretty slow around here, and all of a sudden, everyone's putting new stuff up and digging into the vaults for their past songs and gigs to put up. Everybody sharing new music is awesome. That's a real music community!

quite a bit of music I have been listening to lately seems to try to have some kind of gimmick or electronic sleight of hand (my stuff included). It's refreshing to come across something that is just basic and really good, minus all the sound meddling.

Thanks man.

The age of electronica, and looping and sampling, etc... has kind of blurred the lines.

It's always nice to just get back to basics once in awhile.

as solid as ever craig...

good job amigo.

Thanks brother!

And I LOVE that movie, great music in there, so high praise indeed. One of the great band movies of all time! Makes we want to buy it now, haven't seen it in a long time!

Being Irish that movie must hold some extra meaning for you?

btw...What's going on with your project? Have you auditioned any new players?

yes craig the commitments holds a very special place in my heart...
first of all its set in Dublin...my home town...all the accents are real true dublin accents...watch the movie and you will hear what i sound like..
and another fact not many people know is the actors played all the music for the film...they were musicians first and actors second..all the songs in the movie were played by the actors..they played as the "commitments band" for a year or two after the movie...and there are one or two famous faces in the band and movie... the guitarist with the red hair is glen hansard from the amazing dublin band "the frames" i would advise all to check them out...and andrew strong the singer became a great solo artist...

great praise indeed my friend

Damn again Craig,
Don't know if I'd call it "Funkey Bluz" or "Bluzey Funk" but one thing's for sure, you is one talented ol' boy. I like the fact that it sounds like you were having fun with this recording. Got a kick out of the "chuckle" at 1.16. Like the organ playin' too, but I'm happy to say that that synth lead sucked! :D (Next time, take Mikey's offer to burn a blisterin' Strat lead. Or better yet, a good ol' harmonic double guitar Southern rock solo). NICE JOB!
