First time I saw JT was 72, Thick As A Brick Tour. Still ranks as one of the top 5 shows I ever saw. Since then, saw JT in Montreal - Songs from the Wood tour - in the mid 70s, and the J Tull Dot Com tour in 2000 (first concert my wife and I ever went to together).

Imagine a modern day JT (the original was a farmer in the 1800s) - a biochemist, working on a solution to help a wide-spread world hunger. His son Jasper is out planting the experimental stuff around the world. (And sings lead for a lot of the JT songs).
That's the premise, and using some narrator (Ian A) parts and small song snippets (done on a large back-of-the-stage screen) to tie in the live songs culled from the dozens of JY albums. Anderson 'sings' about half the songs, relying on the videoed singers for the rest. Tight band, as always, but because of the backing video (and occasional music tracks on it - vocals, cello, acoustic guitar) there's no room for improvising.

Locomotive Breath - the only full song I videoed as the 'camera nazis' were in full force. Had to keep my camera concealed under my sweatshirt, hence the low angle and sometimes wacky angles and movement.

I saw them at Veteran's Auditorium Des Moines, Iowa in 1975 ... the Minstrel In The Gallery tour, and the weird thing I can remember about them (although their music is top drawer), was the swirlish dervish like dance choreography they had no doubt spent many hours perfecting, it was like a medieval "fair" like atmosphere, that and will never forget the bassist had a zebra stripe painted? or transfer graphics taped up? bass guitar with matching zebra striped costume/stage clothes..really fascinating, and they had put a lot of hours into the perfectly timed dance routine.. maybe the best concert I have ever seen, and I have seen dozens.. (before the prices got out of sight for tickets).. I refuse to partake in greed.. where have the bohemians and bohemian lifestyle people disappeared to? a vow of poverty is completely out of fashion in this evil money based consumerized world.. hate it..

great period in 1975, although I liked the albums "Heavy Horses" and "Songs From The Wood" the best

I loved 'A Hunting Girl' and the video of "Too Old To Rock and Roll." The Viking in my responded to "Broad Sword" but can't really think of anything they did I didn't like.

Got tired of Aqualung simply because that seems to be one of the few songs of theirs you ever hear on the radio.

Tull for me showed that you can put together the music you care about today and approach it differently tomorrow. Like following up their early stuff with that Anarchy tour.

Locomotive Breath used to get good airplay time on the classic rock stations along with Aqualung, but they have eased off playing it the last few years..

They started the show this past week with Heavy Horses, and did SftW in the 2nd set!

"Locomotive Breath" was also a great song for a cover band since it required scant rehearsal and was good filler when you found your set wasn't as long as you thought.
