take a chance I could actually implement percussion into my musical compositions? no refunds on software? but it does look cool.. maybe a Yamaha DD-65 drum pad would be more appropriate? I could actually beat out beats and layer them with a pad like device/drumset?s

ok, I now think the Yamaha DD-65 has only 1 output which is the headphone plug, it might be outta the picture then,
I have come across a Hydrogen Drum Machine software written by an Italian programmer that is getting awesome reviews!.. but for LINUX only?
Beatcraft? anybody use Beatcraft? heard the tones of the drums are cheesy though?
Bill, thanks for your input the other day about a mp3 converter the mediahuman software worked great tnx Bill.
as I find more percussion options, I will post them ..a real live drummer like RGMix Proj. would be ideal, but I drive to Minnesota? too far, and rates are probably no doubt substantial?..

For $80.00 more I would just get The Behringer XD8USB 8 Piece Drums. I sat down and played on these for about a half and hour and with a little tweaking on the snare I got a very good sound. The output jacks had a very clean sound for $299,99.

hey RGMix Project, if you don't mind me asking you, (since I could not find the answer reading the reviews and specs) if a guy is not that great of drummer, but can keep good time of rhythm, can a player say like record the bass drum beats, on 1 take, then maybe do a high-hat riff together with a snare beat, in another take , and maybe a roll on the toms in another take, and then combine them to get a real proficient drummer sound into the module and the module stores the end result ready to be output to the input of the DAW interface as just 1 track? I am so far limited to 4 tracks using this Ableton Live Lite 5 Line 6 Edition DAW.. don't know if I worded this right, but can try to say it in another way if needed..

Dayne - I've been using EZ Drummer for about 3 years, EZD 2 since upgrading late last year. For someone who hasn't drummed on a real set for decades, and doesn't have the space (or wife who wants drums banging in the house), it's the best solution for me. Before using EZD, I used the Boss rhythm machine in my recorder, and supplemented that with accents and beats played on my Casio keyboard. EZD2 has a lot better variety of beats and adjustments than the original version - if you have MIDI editing capability in your DAW (I use Reaper, which has a built-in editor) you can vary the beats to make them less 'programmed-sounding'. I've fooled some people with a couple of my tunes when I've put songs up for comments/suggestions.
As to using an e-drum kit, yes you can always do one part at a time and record them to separate tracks in your DAW
and with a software package like EZD2, you can substitute the built-in sounds from the kit with better-sampled ones if the drum kit has MIDI output. You may find, though, that playing one part at a time does not give a very realistic sound when you're done.

thanks Mike, I was earlier thinking about doing a search titled (GuitarMikeB + electronic drums)) to get your always appreciated knowledge about stuff.. but why is this stuff so expensive?
this is cool too but that kinda money?
http://www.zzounds.com/item--YAMDTXM12

been researching all day, after seeing I am going to need percussion
but the kind of money they want? is incredibly high?

ww.homerecordingnow.com/electronic_drum_pads.php

the labor to learn how to do midi correctly rather than just audio out into a module without a "trigger" geeez, can't it ever be simple? I hate having to deal with it, but like jimmy said, great for sketches of sound until you get something extraordinary and might have potential?

ditto....and using a click track will help a lot.

GuitarMikeB, if a guy wanted to do a song that was as complex as Carl Palmer's drum "sample" say "Karn Evil 9" using EZD2 could it be accomplished with out much headache? or is the EZD2 basically meant for a song that has no time meter changes or fancy rolls and crashes etc.? that just kinda meanders along?

Tempo changes are done in the DAW, not in the drum software - in Reaper, its a simple as changing the bpm rate on the time line and the change can be instant or gradual. Time signature changes are done in the drum software. In EZD2, you can choose from pre-done sample loops, adjusting them for more/less hits, as well as fills. Or you can program all the hits from scratch in the MIDI editor - if you can play/write drum parts in sheet music, its basically the same thing . Go to the oontrack web site and watch the demo videos to get an idea.
I tell you that unless you ARE Carl Palmer, you're not going to get an ELP-sounding drum part done on a drum pad like the one you linked, or the cheaper ones like this Alesis: http://www.zzounds.com/item--ALESAMPLEPADPRO
or this cheaper KAT one: http://www.zzounds.com/item--KATKTMP1
These pads don't play like drums - neither do e-drum kits.
Why the high prices - better velocity sensitivity and feel, more sampled sounds, better construction - you get what you pay for.

For EZD, I paid $29 on sale for the original version, bought several expansion packs (basically more drum sounds and more loop samples) at $29 each (all when on sale), then did the upgrade to EZD2 when it first came out for $90.

Or this. Virtual drums, percussion, keys, vibes, horns, bass, strings etc. also a very intuitive 8tk DAW. As a home project studio with a room full of virtual instruments,it's for real. Develop your ideas here and then take to a pro studio to produce marketable product.
