Yes, after getting kicked out of a couple of places because we were too loud the band finally got a clue. I hope you wear ear protection every time you get together, ear damage never heals.
Some bands will use a sound meter in the room to measure volume and aim for a specific target. Everyone needs to agree on the target and work towards meeting it.
