sounds like yet another plot of the progressive lberals to erode more of our freedom.

good god, man! don't ya see it?

....we start tuning down to 432 hz and next thing ya know we'll all have tatoos starting with a 432 prefix branded into our arms.

i was curious about the chart.....if i understand it correctly, it looks like tuning to 432 is the equivalent of tuning down one half step. if that's so....i'm not sure what the big whoop is.

so tuned that way, when you're strumming a "G" chord the pitch is equal to an F# in (in 440 tuning)....if that's the case...what exactly is changed or accomplished if everything is simply down 1/2 from what you actually "play"?

and how does that put it all in harmony w the universe if that's the case?

An interesting article on 440hz vs. 432hz.

http://www.collective-evolution.com/201 ... -to-432hz/

A little bit of knowledge of music history easily dispels such silly superstitions ...

The left hand column is the frequency that is designated "A" = (440, 432, 415 etc. whatever ) ... the two numbers to the right of that, are for the frequencies of C5 and C4 (the C's above and below A .. then there is the city and date of where and when the measurements took place.

No, no. 432 has to be correct cuz 9 is a magic number.
4 + 3 + 2

If we could avoid 400z to 500hz, that would be good all together. That's the "sounds like poop" range of recorded music.

I propose that concert pitch be changed to 540hz

I usually tune to A = 420 :D

Do you use the 'two mirror' method?

As to the 432Hz vs 440Hz, lots of non-verifiable stuff in that article, specially the 'unified universe' stuff. I would think a frequency that is more 'universal' would be more desirable, like 256Hz or 512Hz (2 to the 8th or 2 oto the 9th) for whatever notes are close to those now - afterall the note names are just our terminology, not anything fixed )other than by use). In much ASian music these scales and notes do not mean anything to the players in those countries.
No doubt that people did protest when the ISO did their change in the 50s, but the fact is that now all instruments that are not easily quick-tunable are made to the 440 standard. Can you imagine trying to retune every piano used by classical orchestras now? Some pedal and clip-on tuners are calibratable, so could be changed, but not many (my new Korg Pitchblack is). Back to the "give me a D" days!
