I'll agree that many chick singers gravitate more to the lighter side, but that's certainly not unique to females. Lots of guys do lighter stuff, too. Harder stuff requires a powerful voice & a powerful personality. Some have it, some don't. I know just as many guys who sing through their nose & can't cut through the music as women. Joero, your antiquated views on women singers are holding you back even more than you realize. Here's a hypothetical situation: A female Bruce Dickinson calls you for an audition, but you wouldn't even give her a chance. She finds another band & goes on to stardom, but your band is playing local clubs with your average male singer for a few hundred a night. Who missed out?

I would dig a chick singer as the front. Covering Heart or Within Temptation would be a blast. And if she had the vocal range you could still do Dream Theater and Rush...

I have to agree it depends on the singer and the music, but it's the same for men. I have sung s few of those hair-metal songs you refer to, and sang then just fine, some even better than I've ever seen a man do. That is not my chosen music though... and I know that I am not most singers. But if you automatically judge based on male/female steriotypes, you might miss out on one of the few and great exceptions.

Out of about 30 years playing in bands, only two of those acts were all male. I prefer playing with females, because of the way they tend to approach music and performance in general. I have found that men tend to come at music from the linear and calculated angle, they like to talk alot about the theory of chords and all that crap (and when it gets in the way of making music, it IS crap), see performance as a sort of "my phallus is bigger'n yorn" thing,. The women musicians I've played with, for the most part, do music alot more from their gut; which is where I've found the best music I've ever produced. They have been great colleagues, mentors, idols and teachers for me. I'd play in an all female band in a heartbeat, but I've found that the mixed ones have produced the best results as far as sustained unity.

[quote="aurora"]HEy im new to the list and i wanted someones opinion.. Do GUYs really want to play in a Chick fronted band?????[/It all depends
How good or pr you really are For me it's originality. You have to be unique]I don't like to play in a purely cover band with a chic fronting because it doesn't take that much effort cover and people start to concentrate on onner band relations etc.. arguements, jealousy... But for an original band where there is more required effort and commitment of time and hopfully professionalism/Maturity there is definatly a place for anyone with unique talent
